00:42Nuestros sociedades expectan answers to shared problemas.
00:45Y la revisión de nuestro acuerdo de la Comunidad de Relaciones Exteriores
00:47nos da la oportunidad de definir lo que nuestra partnership será en los años atrás.
00:52Así que, empecé a comenzar con la que estamos.
00:55En 2025, México was once again the largest trading partner of the United States.
01:01Our trade reached almost $873 billion.
01:0583% of everything Mexico exports goes north.
01:09But here is the number that tells the real story.
01:12Close to 40% of the value of what Mexico sells to the United States
01:16is made in the United States.
01:19Think about what that means.
01:20A part made in Michigan is assembled in Monterrey and sold back across the border.
01:26Where that chain works, both countries win.
01:29When it breaks, both countries save.
01:31With Canada, the story is also one of growth.
01:34Our trade surpassed $30.7 billion last year.
01:39And Canadian investment in Mexico,
01:41built over decades in mining, energy, automotive, finance, and agribusiness,
01:45is close to $60 billion.
01:47Our task in this review is simple.
01:50To state and demanding to achieve.
01:52Protect what works and make it stronger.
01:56We value our relationship with the United States and with Canada.
02:00And we understand the responsibility we share.
02:03President Sheinbaum and President Trump
02:05have maintained direct and continuous dialogue since day one.
02:09That dialogue rests on four principles.
02:12Respect for our sovereignty and territorial integrity.
02:16Shared and differentiated responsibility.
02:18Mutual respect and trust.
02:20And cooperation without subordination.
02:22We talk because our economies are connected.
02:26We talk because our communities share a border.
02:29And very often, a family.
02:30And we talk because cooperation is not a declaration.
02:34It is daily work.
02:36Every day, more than 1 million people cross our border.
02:39So do roughly 80% of our trade.
02:42That is why we are making it faster and safer.
02:45With better coordination, new technology, and new infrastructure.
02:48Our binational group on bridges and crossings is advancing priority projects.
02:54Otay Mesa 2, Puerto Verde, Laredo 4 and 5.
02:57And with the North American Development Bank,
02:59we are financing water projects for our region facing a historic drought.
03:04Security is also a shared responsibility.
03:06And Mexico is delivering.
03:08Since President Sheinbaum took office,
03:11our authorities have dismantled more than 2,700 clandestine laboratories.
03:15They have seized over 2,500 kilograms of fentanyl
03:19and more than 34,000 firearms.
03:23The results show on both sides of the border.
03:26Fentanyl officials at the southern U.S. border are down almost 60%.
03:31And the deaths from synthetic opioid overdoses in the United States
03:37have fallen by nearly 22%.
03:39Now, the other half of this challenge.
03:42Roughly 78% of the firearms trades in Mexico come from the United States.
03:47Between January 2025 and February 2026,
03:51U.S. authorities seized 4,300 weapons
03:54and nearly 649,000 rounds of ammunitions headed to Mexico.
04:00The firewall mission has opened 125 investigations,
04:04and the E-Trade system now operates in all Mexican states.
04:08Our security is connected.
04:11Our response must be true.
04:13But this relationship is not only about trade and security.
04:16It is about people.
04:18The millions of Mexicans who live, work, and contribute
04:21in the United States every single day.
04:25Protecting them, it is the Mexican government's first duty.
04:29And we will continue to use every consular, legal, and diplomatic pool
04:33available to defend their rights.
04:36Mexico supports migration that is safe, orderly, and humane,
04:40with full respect for the sovereignty and the laws of each country.
04:44And coordination works.
04:46A regular migration towards the United States has fallen by about 90%.
04:51Our responsibility does not stop at the border.
04:54Through Mexico Tabraza, we receive those who return with health care,
04:57jobs, and education, and support to begin again.
05:01Let me also turn to Canada, a strategic partner and a friend.
05:05Over the past year, President Sheinbaum and Prime Minister Mark Carney
05:09reaffirmed our comprehensive strategic partnership
05:11and signed the Mexico-Canada Action Plan.
05:14Last week, we marked its first anniversary
05:1732 concrete joint actions in prosperity, mobility, security, and the environment.
05:22We want more small and medium-sized businesses to be part of that.
05:27And we want investment that builds talent in our communities.
05:31Our partnership is also human.
05:33For more than five decades, Mexican farm workers have brought in
05:36Canadian harvests through our bilateral program.
05:39They support farms, food supply, and families in both countries.
05:44And we must keep strengthening the protections they deserve.
05:47Which brings me to the question before all three of us.
05:51It is not only how to preserve what we have built.
05:55It is how to make North America more competitive, more resilient,
05:59and better prepared for what comes next.
06:02That means modern infrastructures, skilled workers, reliable supply chains,
06:07and the capacity to adapt as industries change.
06:11Governments can create the conditions,
06:13but only businesses can tell us where the barriers really are.
06:16So to the business leaders that are here,
06:19your experience is indispensable.
06:22And to our government partners,
06:24let us keep the channels open,
06:27especially when things get difficult.
06:29That is precisely when they matter most.
06:32This week in New York,
06:34the world debated how to restore trust in international cooperation.
06:38Here in a region,
06:39we have the chance to show that it still works.
06:43Mexico will keep working with the United States
06:45and with Canada,
06:47by Latin and its three partners.
06:50Thank you for being here.
06:52And welcome to Mexico Avenue.
06:53Thank you for being here.
06:57Thank you for being here.
06:59Thank you for being here.
07:00escuchamos al secretario de Relaciones Exteriores,
07:03Roberto Velasco,
07:04en la inauguración y paneles de North Capital Forum.
07:08with the United States of America.
07:09Thank you.
07:09Thank you.
07:15Thank you.
