00:12according to new data from the World Economic Forum.
00:157 in 10 top-scoring countries are located in Europe.
00:19The Old Continent closed 75.7% of its overall gender gap this year,
00:24up 7 percentage points from 2006.
00:26This leaves a 24.3% gap to achieve equal representation.
00:32The report looked at education, health, economic participation and politics.
00:37Europe is the champion in the latter category, with a score of 37%.
00:41In the first two categories, it maintains near parity.
00:45However, when it comes to economic participation, it ranks in fifth position.
00:49Despite its number one position globally, a deep divide remains within Europe.
00:54The countries topping the region's ranking are mainly in the north,
00:57with Iceland holding the number one spot.
01:00It is the only country closing more than 90% of the gender gap.
01:04On the other side of the spectrum are Romania, Hungary and Italy,
01:07landing more than 20 percentage points below Iceland.
01:11Europe is expected to close the gender gap in 70 years.
01:15Globally, full closure of the gender gap is still 120 years away.
