00:00Here are five things you need to know about the Premier League's case with Man City.
00:03First of all, how do we get here?
00:04In 2023, the Premier League brought 115 charges against Man City.
00:08The alleged financial breaches took place in 2009 and 2018,
00:12period in which City won their first three Premier League titles.
00:15There were also 35 charges of failing to cooperate with Premier League investigations up to 2023.
00:20Throughout the process, City have denied all the charges against them.
00:23What's changed now?
00:24Last week, The Athletic were first to report that an independent commission
00:26has now found City guilty of 114 of those 115 charges.
00:31The Premier League executives at other clubs are said to have been informed about the decision,
00:35which proves to be a seismic moment in English football, with this case unprecedented in its scale.
00:39In terms of the response, the Premier League have not yet commented,
00:42but we have heard from Man City chairman Khaldun al-Mubarak.
00:45He said that the Premier League process still has a long way to run,
00:47and our confidence and intent in proving the club's innocence is just as strong as when this began.
00:52What next?
00:53Well, City are of course expected to appeal.
00:55However, they cannot take this case to CAS.
00:57That's what they did in 2020, when UEFA banned them from two years for European club competition.
01:02They fined them 30 million euros, but CAS overturned that ban.
01:05They reduced the fine.
01:06However, City can't do that this time.
01:08The case won't be re-heard in full.
01:10The evidence won't be re-presented.
01:12So, while City, of course, will explore all possibilities,
01:15one of those includes potentially trying to take a case to the High Court,
01:19it's certainly not a simple appeals process.
01:21And finally, what are the sanctions?
01:23At this stage, everything's still in play.
01:25From the lower end of the spectrum, whether that be fines,
01:29raising to points deductions, potentially even expulsion from the Premier League,
01:32that is still all to be decided.
01:34Rival clubs, of course, taking a keen interest in this,
01:36not just those who missed out in title races,
01:38but those who missed out in European football too.
01:40There'll be plenty of compensation cases if City are found guilty
01:44and the appeal is unsuccessful.
01:45So, at this stage, still a lot to play out,
01:47a lot of potential resolutions,
01:49but very few of them, as it stands, look positive for City.
