00:01The Defence in former Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan's corruption case has
00:08sought the earliest possible trial date, saying that the case dates back to 2022.
00:13They made the request during case management in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Tuesday.
00:19Saravanan faces three corruption charges involving 1.097 million ringgit linked to
00:25the approval of foreign worker quotas. The prosecution told the court
00:29that they had handed over 22 sets of documents to the Defence, but two categories, namely
00:36Cabinet Papers and Cabinet Memoranda, were still pending. They said the number of Cabinet
00:42Papers had yet to be determined as they are still seeking them from the Cabinet, with
00:47the process expected to take at least a month. The court then set November 3 for next mention
00:53and to fix the trial date.
01:23The 60-year-old Saravanan pleaded not guilty last month to three corruption charges involving
01:291.097 million ringgit linked to the approval of foreign worker quotas in 2022.
