00:17The military junta led by General Hota and Tam has suspended the electoral process and said December 6th as the
00:24dead for presidential and parliamentary elections.
00:27Mbalo confirmed he will be a candidate although he did not say when he plans to return.
00:33Tam, who is serving as transitional president, has said Mbalo is free to return if he has nothing to hide.
00:39But the political climate remains tense with opposition groups urging voters to boycott the process.
00:45The junta has also backed constitutional changes giving the president greater powers.
00:49Guinea-Bissau has experienced five coups and several attempted overthrows since independence from Portugal.
