00:03ANIMA CIROS
00:04The Grand Celebration of Animation
00:05took place for the 19th consecutive year
00:07in Ermopoli CIROS in Greece.
00:10With a richer program than ever
00:12Greece's largest international animation festival
00:14and one of the top 20
00:16of its kind in Europe
00:16brought together more than 280 films
00:19by established and emerging filmmakers
00:21from 50 countries.
00:24I think that
00:25it is a more important part
00:26for the current projects
00:28in the MESOGEO and in our country.
00:30It gives us a great emphasis
00:31on the development of the Greek talent
00:33and European talent in all the world.
00:35And also on the development of new technologies
00:37in the animation field
00:39which I think is the key for
00:42a sustainable future
00:44for the artistic field
00:45and for the European animation.
00:48One of the most notable guests
00:49at this year's event was the internationally recognized
00:51award winning sound designer Olivier Calvert
00:54With her long career in collaboration
00:56with leading directors and organizations
00:58the Canadian artist has saved the soundscapes
01:00of numerous distinguished productions.
01:03Sound design is shaping the whole sound of a film
01:06so you can work with ambiences
01:08it can be naturalistic
01:10like the birds, the traffic sounds
01:12the sea waves
01:13but it can go subliminal
01:16you can really put tension in a scene.
01:18live action film
01:20you create sound for naturalistic environment
01:23first
01:24animation is all design
01:26all a new world
01:28so why the sound needs to be real
01:31naturalistic
01:32we don't need the sound to be realistic
01:34and animated film
01:35so yes we can create really a totally different world
01:39a world of its own
01:40an old universe to discover.
01:43This year's festival opened with the film
01:45Decorado by Goya award winning Spanish filmmaker Alberto Vázquez
01:49with the support of the Spanish Embassy in Greece
01:51and the Instituto Cervantes.
01:53The film is reminiscent of the Truman Show in animated form.
01:57The film is also about how the society or the corporations especially
02:05try to dishumanize people
02:09so the story is about a man without work
02:14who feels like everything is strange to him
02:17and he doesn't feel it's reality
02:20because it doesn't relate to him
02:22we try to work from these characters
02:25and this kind of environment
02:26but making strange combination of colors
02:29so at the end
02:31the people feels
02:32okay this is a nightmare
02:34it's not a dream.
