01:18The ban of these various Canadian products is valued at nearly $1 billion.
01:22The Trump administration justified this measure as a protectionist measure for the dairy and liquor sectors.
01:28This is in response to Ottawa's imposition of reciprocal tariffs on U.S. products, which range from 15% to
01:3450%.
01:35The restriction announced by Washington replaces the previous 50% tariffs with a complete ban on iconic products such as
01:42beer,
01:42liquid, whey, protein, concentrates, molasses and three-wheeled motorcycles such as the Can-Am models from the Canadian company BRP.
01:59The United Nations human rights experts are calling for an immediate hold to the United States deportation of migrants to
02:06third countries,
02:07one of the policies surging serious human rights violations.
02:10The experts say people are being sent to countries with which they have no ties.
02:15Increasing their exposure to torture, ill-treatment, enforced disappearance, trafficking and discrimination.
02:23Since President Trump returned to power, Washington has reached deportation agreements with 35 countries,
02:28while thousands of migrants have reportedly been transferred to countries across Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Central Asia.
02:35The U.N. experts warn that some receiving countries are already affected by conflict, displacement, poverty and food insecurity
02:42and lack the capacity to protect those being deported.
02:46They denounced that the policy puts life, safety, dignity and fundamental rights at risk.
02:58And on Tuesday, Venezuela's Acting President, José Rodríguez, requested that the National Assembly partially amend the constitutional law against hate
03:06for peaceful coexistence and tolerance.
03:08In a statement, the Acting President explained the requested reform aims to advance the decriminalization of the conduct outlined in
03:15the aforementioned regulatory instrument
03:17as part of the measures adopted by the national government to transform our country's criminal justice system and promote reconciliation
03:24and democratic coexistence among Venezuelans.
03:27The statement concludes, given the positive impact this reform will have on rebuilding trust in institutions and revitalizing the nation's
03:34democratic life,

03:56On Tuesday, Hurricane Polo caused a range of rains in parts of Baja California Sur, Sonora and Sinaloa after making

06:13In Spain, hundreds of people remain in tents at Puerta del Sol in Madrid,
06:17pushing for congressional approval of the Marie Carmen housing decree that seeks to prevent the eviction of vulnerable people.
06:24The action follows the approval by the Council of Ministers of the package of measures presented by the coalition led
06:30by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez Socialist.
06:32The proposal was triggered by social pressure exercise since last Saturday after the forced eviction of 87-year-old retiree
06:39Marie Carmen Abascal.
06:41The bill includes protection against evictions for vulnerable people, regulation of room and seasonal rentals, a ban on the purchase
06:48of homes by vulture funds through 2028,
06:51and an extension on the current rental agreements that are due to expire at the end of 2028, among other
06:57measures.
06:58The package must now be ratified by the Congress of Deputies, which plans to submit it for approval during an
07:03emergency plenary session on Friday.

07:41Hello, Luis, once again, and we continue here in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
07:46We've been talking about the importance of this particular state and the coverage, in-depth coverage that we're doing here,
07:53and to really understand why it is so important to really get to know the main concerns within Rio de
08:00Janeiro.
08:00We've been going around and talking to different people, citizens from different neighborhoods of Rio, to understand what are they
08:07thinking about,
08:08what is the general population worried about this few days before the election?
08:13You can maybe hear some of the noise in the background.
08:16There are different activities.
08:18We have militants going around, calling out and chanting out for their own candidates.
08:24And we've been talking about the importance that security issues in particular have for the residents of Rio de Janeiro.
08:32Let's recall that it is an urban city and also its peripheries that have been dominated by the problems of
08:40security issues,
08:42particularly with the role that militias and also drug trafficking groups have their incidents in favelas,
08:49and the way that this also affects the day-to-day life of different sectors of society.
08:55That has been a deep-rooted issue in this area of Brazil in particular.
08:59So it is one of the main concerns for the state, and it's also a main concern nationwide.
09:05That is why the debate regarding these topics, particularly in the state, is so important.
09:11So we have the two main candidates. We've talked about them.
09:13We are talking about the governorship for the state with Eduardo Paez and the support of President Lula da Silva
09:21and also Douglas Ruiz for the Liberal Party with the support of Flavio Bolsonaro.
09:25So the Bolsonaro's candidate, Douglas Ruiz, has an approach that is linked to giving the police, the armed forces, more
09:36strength with harder penalties for anything related to crime.
09:42So an approach in terms of security that has to do with more force and more punishment regarding anything related
09:50to crime.
09:51The other candidates related to, in this case, the support of Lula da Silva, Eduardo Paez from the Socialist Democratic
09:59Party, they have this on the agenda as well.
10:03Again, it's a transversal issue, but the proposals are much more linked to the need of integral coordination in terms
10:13of the way that this issue needs to be tackled,
10:16understanding that it's a deep-rooted issue that has to do also with the coordination between different agencies.
10:24So he is talking a lot about the importance of reinforcing that coordination to ensure that there are not different
10:32agencies tackling the issue in different forms,
10:35but that there is one integral way for the state of Rio de Janeiro to be able to tackle this
10:42very important issue.
10:44And also highlighting, we are talking again about Eduardo Paez, highlighting the importance of just cutting away every link between
10:54the state and anything related to the criminal groups that are inciting in this deep-rooted issue that is security,
11:03particularly in the Rio de Janeiro.
11:06This is such an important topic that Lula da Silva, when he came back from the UN in New York
11:13and that famous speech that we all saw,
11:15well, he came to Rio and that was one of his last and major events before the election.
11:20And he came here not only to support the candidate Eduardo Paez, but also to talk and participate in several
11:28agendas regarding security and reinforcing state agencies,
11:32reinforcing agreements of cooperation in order to tackle this issue in particular.

12:37First question, we have this important election that Brazil is going to go to the polls on next Sunday,
12:42as we were saying, for general elections, but emphasis being put on the president.
12:46We have the two main candidates are completely different from one another.
12:49It's like two different sides of a coin.
12:51We have Lula Silva on one side and Fábio Bolsonaro on the other.
12:55As Brazil being a powerhouse in South America and, of course, very important player for regional integration,
13:01how do you see these electoral results, whether Lula wins or Flavio wins,
13:05will impact directly these integrationist proposals and projects going into the coming years.
13:16This election means a lot for Brazilian people, but I guess means a lot for Latin America,
13:22because the future of the region could be impacted by the politics of the USA.
13:29Lula represents a dialogue for multilateral space, integration space like Mercosur and other blacks,
13:39and Bolsonaro's son, Flavio Bolsonaro, have more direct dialogue of the politics of Trump.
13:47And maybe Brazil, for the family of Bolsonaro, can be part of the Shield of America.
13:55This is not good for the Brazilians now.
13:59Amanda, beyond the government that is elected next Sunday or perhaps in the second round later in the month,
14:04what would be the role of grassroots movement, of social movements in Brazil and also in the region
14:09to carry on these integrationist projects?
14:15Here in Brazil, the social movements are really important, important for the dialogue of the people,
14:23but important for the foreign affairs too.
14:27We have this kind of diplomacy, diplomacy of the people, and this diplomacy is really, really important in this moment,
14:34because we are in crisis in Latin America. Many countries are alienated by the USA,
14:42and we need this kind of power of the street, the roots of the social movement,
14:48to put Brazil in this campaign for the sobering of Brazil and the democracy of Brazil.
14:58We are in the final week, so candidates are closing their campaign rallies,
15:03are closing their campaigns, and they are still, according to polls,
15:07there are many undecided borders, so this moment is very important in those campaigns
15:10to tip the scale, so to say, to convince those undecided borders.
15:14What is on Brazilians' mind, and what would make them decide for each model?
15:20What are the main issues going into this electoral day?
15:27It's hard to answer this question, because we have a polarized society,
15:34we have two sides of the same countries.
15:38So, for the future of Brazil, I guess, will be important the discourse of sovereignty,
15:44because now Brazil represents a blend of sovereignty, the government Lula.
15:51And if Bolsonaro wins, this can change for every Brazilian.
15:57So, this moment is really, really important to talk with the people,
16:01talk about the riches below Brazil, and what we need to do for that,

17:23The movement began on September 21st at Saint-Exupéry High School in Cretel,
17:28over unfilled teaching posts before spreading across the Paris region and to other parts of the nation.
17:35Students have raised complaints, including teacher and staff searches deteriorating buildings,
17:39crowded classrooms, overloaded timetables, and overheated classrooms in the wake of recent heatwaves.
17:45During the demonstrations, which have seen teenagers blockading their schools for days,
17:50164 students have been arrested.
17:53Government ministers have said the teens' concerns should be heard,
17:56while insisting police will intervene where there is violence,
17:59while leftist politicians and supporting unions have accused the authorities
