00:00Making people laugh.
00:02It's a world that I want to be involved in.
00:08I said,
00:10God, you can do anything
00:11you want to me, just please
00:14make me famous.
00:16I got a phone call.
00:18And I instantly knew my
00:19whole life was going to change.
00:22But God
00:23did not forget the other part.
00:27All great stories
00:28have comedy and tragedy
00:30in them, and that certainly
00:31was Matthew's story.
00:33I was extremely happy
00:35when I got famous. Then I was like,
00:37uh-oh, this didn't fix what's inside
00:40me. This didn't do what I thought it was going to do.
00:42My brother would talk about
00:44that feeling of emptiness or loneliness
00:46that he couldn't quite
00:47fill. He spent
00:49$7 million trying to get
00:52sober. That's how seriously he took
00:54his disease. I had people telling
00:56me to stop, say, you're going to kill yourself
00:58if you keep going like this.
01:00And I just didn't know how.
01:02The world is saying goodbye
01:04to a beloved actor
01:06and one of our best
01:08friends.
01:12So this is the funny part
01:13of the documentary.
01:16As Matthew's buddy
01:18for 40 years, he would definitely
01:19want everyone to talk about how great he was.
01:23He
01:24meant so much in so many
01:26ways.
01:27Matthew
01:28recognized this is an area
01:30where he could really make a huge difference.
01:32I wanted to introduce myself and say that
01:34my name is Matthew and I'm an alcoholic.
01:36He saved my life right there
01:38in that moment. I believe that.
01:42How funny he was.
01:43When he made people laugh, it made him
01:46feel good to have that
01:48connection with an audience
01:49is a wonderful,
01:52sacred thing.
01:54And how we miss him.
01:57I miss you guys.
01:59I miss all of you.
02:00I miss you guys.
02:02I miss you.
02:02I miss you.
02:10I miss you.
02:11I miss you.
02:12I miss you.
02:12I miss you.
