00:04Macklemore has announced the Free Palestine Tour, a three-date European run taking place
00:09in Dublin, Paris and London later this year.
00:12The announcement comes shortly after Macklemore was removed from the remaining U.S. dates
00:16of Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour following his outspoken support for Palestinians.
00:21The controversy began after Macklemore made pro-Palestinian comments during two performances
00:27at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
00:30He called for a Free Palestine and performed his protest song Heinz Hall during those appearances.
00:36Promoter Messina Touring Group announced Macklemore would no longer appear on the remaining American
00:42dates after venues indicated they would not host the concerts with him on the lineup.
00:47New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft confirmed that Macklemore would not perform at Gillette
00:52Stadium, citing what he described as offensive rhetoric and imagery.
00:57Macklemore argued that Kraft's actions contributed to pressure on other venues involved with the
01:02tour, a broader allegation Kraft did not confirm.
01:05Ed Sheeran said the decision to remove Macklemore was made by the promoter and venue owners rather
01:11than by Sheeran and that he had attempted to find another solution.
01:15Instead of stepping away from the controversy, Macklemore is creating an entire concert series
01:21around the message that became central to the dispute.
01:24He wrote that being apolitical during what he described as a genocide was no longer an
01:29option and added that audiences are asking artists to use their stages for purposes beyond
01:34music.
01:36Following his removal, Macklemore pledged $1 million to organizations supporting Palestinians
01:41and proceeds from the new European concerts will continue that fundraising effort.
01:45The tour opens October 26th in Dublin, continues October 29th in Paris and wraps October 30th
01:53in London.
01:54Presale tickets will be available Monday, September 28th with general sales beginning Wednesday,
