00:12when i first got hired it was like another two or three years before i felt like i had my
00:18skills
00:18cut up to the other average board artists and it's cool to be working around other board artists when
00:23you see other people's work there's stuff in there that you can learn from and you can say oh i
00:27like
00:28the way someone does that in fact i like the way josh will draw like a mitten for a hand
00:32and just
00:32put some fingers on it and so i started doing that in some of my boards i'm like oh i'm
00:36stealing that
00:36it works so good there was a lot of things i wasn't good at when i started in feature i
00:41had to get
00:41better at drawing i had to learn screen direction i had to learn staging i had to learn composition
00:45one of the things i noticed for myself was it was too many things to try to do all at
00:49once it's a lot
00:50when you're storyboarding because you're essentially directing it writing it you're acting it doing all
00:55this stuff you're doing everything and it was really overwhelming when i first started so one
01:00of the things i tried to do was every sequence i said okay this sequence i'm going to focus on
01:04poses
01:05and clear silhouettes so when somebody taps through it they're not going to be confused about any of the
01:09poses the camera might be all over the place but the poses are going to be good i would pay
01:13more
01:14attention to one thing for a whole sequence get that under my belt move on to the next one now
01:18i'm not
01:19thinking about poses as much because i just did 200 drawings or i did a bunch of poses now in
01:23the next
01:23one i'm going to go okay this time i'm going to keep this character on the left and this character
01:27on the right the whole time all the cuts and if it changes i'm going to show it i'm going
01:31to make sure
01:32nobody gets confused okay great next time now i'm going to work on a camera move slowly each time you
01:36do something just try to build on it because if you try to do everything all at once it's going
01:40to break
01:40your brain
