00:00The news of the death of 37 alleged illegal miners in Niger State came to me as a root
00:06shock.
00:07And I also believe that the same for many Nigerians that a 37 individual alleged to
00:12have been involved in illegal mining will suddenly die in the custody of Nigerian Security
00:18and Civil Defense Corps.
00:20So it is very appalling and that's because our environment has become an environment
00:24that is infested with a lot of impunity.
00:27People, especially security agencies, who are saddled with the responsibility of securing
00:32life and property will not be the people under whose custody a whopping 37 individuals will
00:37die who are just merely suspects.
00:40You would have thought that the moment they were arrested and they are in the custody of
00:44government officials that their lives would have been more secured because they have not
00:47been proven to be found guilty.
00:49So I call on the media, civil society organizations, and the government to insist on accountability,
00:54probe and get to the root of this so that we will find out those who are involved in all
00:58of these things and then melt out the appropriate sanction.
01:01Actually, if I am concerned, please try to continue doingulogy five-erving Brits in the courtroom by the
