Marcos extends appointments of Dizon, Lopez

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has extended the appointments of Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon and Transportation Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, Recto said Marcos would eventually submit the appointments of the two Cabinet officials to the Commission on Appointments (CA) for confirmation. The extension allows Dizon and Lopez to continue performing their respective duties while awaiting the administration’s submission of their appointments to the CA.

Dizon was appointed secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in September 2025, replacing Manuel Bonoan, who resigned amid government investigations into alleged irregularities in flood control projects. Lopez, meanwhile, assumed the role of acting DOTr secretary following Dizon’s transfer to the DPWH.
