00:01And now, please join me in welcoming David Janetsky.
00:06In a Queensland first National Press Club address, the State Treasurer wasted no time
00:12blasting the Federal Government over the GST carve-up.
00:16To be blunt, the GST carve-up threatens the fiscal stability of the Federation.
00:22In August, the Productivity Commission published an interim report
00:26stating WA's GST deal was a mistake at the expense of other states.
00:31The Prime Minister previously vowing as long as he's leader, there will be no change.
00:37You can't set up a Productivity Commission.
00:39You can't have a Productivity Commission like the Federal Government has and then ignore it.
00:43David Janetsky also accused the Federal Government of cost-shifting,
00:47saying it's eroding the state's bottom line to the tune of more than $22 billion by 2031.
00:55And it must be called out, because some of it is subtle, but some of it is not.
01:01According to State Treasury modelling, this includes a $10 billion NDIS burden,
01:07nearly $6 billion for stranded aged care patients in hospitals,
01:11and $3.5 billion in disaster relief.
01:14These were not decisions of the Queensland Government, nor any state or territory government,
01:20and we have no say in them.
01:22A Federal Treasury spokesperson said GST revenue is increasing,
01:27and there's been billions of dollars in new funding for Queensland,
01:31hitting back at David Janetsky, asking him to explain the state's credit rating downgrade,
01:37despite the boost.
01:39Submissions for the Productivity Commission's report closed today.
01:43It's due to hand its findings to the Federal Treasurer by the end of the year.
01:53You
