02:35Many will say, Vishnu is supreme, but he who creates reigns supreme.
02:42I am one god as three, three gods in two, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, the Lord's tribe.
02:48The lives I make, Vishnu preserves, to the rotten, Shiva gives what they deserve.
02:56I am the beginning, Shiva the end, king of the gods, to none I bend.
03:01Born from none, all I bore, I am Brahma, father of all.
03:11Brahma, the self-born, the most ancient one, the first of the Trimorti.
03:17The one who gives, the one who creates, the supreme majesty, king of all the gods.
03:25Once upon a time, in the beginning, there was nothing.
03:29The universe was dark and formless, covered by an infinite mass of primeval ocean.
03:35From the primeval ocean, a golden egg emerged, incubating for many years.
03:42When it was time for the life inside to arise, the egg shattered, and out of it came Brahma, the
03:50very first of the gods.
03:51Brahma shaped the universe into what it is, creating four types of beings, devas, asuras, spirits, and mortals, better known
04:03to most as gods, demons, ancestors, and men.
04:08Upon Brahma's shoulders are four white-bearded heads, his four faces, representing the four Vedas, the religious texts of ancient
04:18India.
04:19The first of the faces, represents the mind, they call it monas.
04:25The second, represents intellect, they call it buddhi.
04:29The third, represents self-pride, they call it ahamkara.
04:34And the last, represents consciousness, they call it chitta.
04:40On Brahma's upper body, are four arms, holding the four stages of Godhead, the four stages of enlightenment.
04:49In the first hand, he holds the Vedas, the scriptures, symbolizing knowledge.
04:55He who must be enlightened, must be an ardent seeker of knowledge, and of the scriptures, a lifelong learner, disciplined
05:04in both body and mind.
05:06In his second hand, he holds the Shruva, a sacrificial tool, symbolizing the sacrifice of ego.
05:14He who must be enlightened, must let go of ego in all his work.
05:19In his third hand, he holds the Kamandalu, a waterpot, symbolizing rebirth, detachment, renunciation, and purification.
05:30He who must reach enlightenment, must detach himself from all things that hold him back from his higher aspiration, attaching
05:39only to things that conform to his new standards, his higher aspiration.
05:43And in his fourth hand, he holds the mala, the rosary, symbolizing meditation, concentration, and prayer.
05:53He who must reach enlightenment, must adopt a lifestyle of constant meditation, withdrawal, and deep concentration.
06:02Upon a lotus, Lord Brahma sits, wearing clothing made of the hide of an antelope, and riding on his vehicle,
06:10the swan.
06:11The great Brahma no longer creates.
06:15He delegated his duties to his offspring and creations.
06:19And now, he remains aloof and far high, his four heads, looking to the four cardinal points, the four corners
06:28of the world.
06:45Behold the Savior, he who has the peace.
06:49Beyond the skies, my vision exceeds.
06:52I am the pervader, dwelling in all hearts.
06:56Who am I?
06:57A God of many forms.
07:00Bringer of joy, I am the end to all sorrows.
07:04Lord of the devas, I vanquish all evil.
07:08In ten forms shall I appear, in ten inclinations shall I descend.
07:12To protect all which is good, to preserve all which is pure.
07:18Nine times already have I descended.
07:21The tenth, the end, I shall bring.
07:31The second of the Trimoti.
07:37Prince of peace, remover of sins, lord of the universe.
07:41The demon destroyer, the great pervader, husband to the goddess, Lakshmi.
07:49He who has many forms, he who has eternal youth, he whose forms are forever pleasing.
07:56The one who is present everywhere, the one who has the loveliest face, the one who shines like a hundred
08:03suns.
08:04He is the singer of the Vedas, Bane of the Asuras, the bridge between the three worlds.
08:12Once upon a time, when Brahma had created the world, he manifested himself into two other divine beings, Vishnu and
08:21Shiva, bestowing on them the power to protect and to destroy.
08:26Not only did Brahma give Vishnu the power to protect, he also relegated his powers of creation and authority as
08:34the supreme deity to Vishnu, going off into the far heavens, where he remains aloof, his four faces, watching everything.
08:44A blue-skinned deity, Vishnu is, with a face lovelier than anything in the universe.
08:51On his upper body, are four arms, carrying the conch, the chakra, the lotus flower, and the mace.
09:00The conch, representing the primordial sound of creation, the chakra, representing the mind, the flower, representing liberation, and the mace,
09:12representing strength.
09:14When Vishnu rides, he rides on the back of the Garuda, king of the birds, and devourer of Nagas, of
09:23snakes.
09:24And when he sleeps, he sleeps on the coils of the gigantic serpent of time, called Odisesha, beside his consort
09:33and female form, the goddess Lakshmi.
09:36There, he lays peacefully, sleeping, until he is disturbed by the cries of the subjects he is sworn to protect.
09:45Whenever the asuras, the demons, enter the world of men, whenever they threaten the world with oppression and chaos, whenever
09:54they devour and destroy the innocent, the great lord Vishnu awakens.
09:59He descends to the world in the form of an avatar, and vanquishes the menacing evil, restoring Dharma, the cosmic
10:08law and order.
10:09When the world knows peace, when the forces of evil have been silenced, Vishnu returns to his abode in the
10:17heavens, where he rests on the serpent of time, until he is awakened again.
10:23There are ten avatars of Vishnu, ten forms of Vishnu, ten incarnations of Vishnu, nine of which have already descended.
10:32As a gigantic fish, he was called Matsya, and as an enormous turtle, he was called Kerma.
10:41As a half-man half-boar, he was called Varar, and as a half-man half-lion, he was called
10:48Narasimha.
10:50As a dwarf, he was called Vamana, and as a punisher, he was called Parasurama.
10:56As a perfect prince, he was called Rama, and as a demigod, he was called Krishna.
11:04As a Buddha, he was called Buddha, and as a horseman, he shall be called Kalki.
11:12Vishnu has descended nine times, and shall descend again, when the end is nigh.
11:18He shall go by the name, Kalki, and riding on a white horse, he shall bring with him, the end
11:25of the world.
11:43Lord of Death, Keeper of Time, I am he who is both benevolent and fearsome.
11:49He in whose throat the most vicious poison rests, he from whose hair the river Ganga flows.
11:56Celebrate yogi of the Mount of Kailash, I am the master and teacher of all sages.
12:02He who is absorbed in his own self, he who embodies the highest nirvana.
12:14Shiva, the great destroyer, the great transformer, the lord of cosmic dance, the third of the trimurti.
12:22He is the god of time and death, god of meditation and the arts, he who has three eyes, husband
12:30to the goddess, Parvati.
12:33As Vishnu is sworn to protect the good among men, Shiva is charged with destroying the wicked.
12:40A god with three eyes, when Shiva opens his third eye, it burns to ashes, all in front of him.
12:48God of the arts, when Shiva dances the dance of death, he brings destruction and death to workers of iniquity.
12:56Some say when Shiva assumes the form of a destroyer, he roams the earth with an army of asuras, thirsting
13:04for the blood of the wicked.
13:06He is the transformer, who from the ruins of his destruction, gives rise to a new existence.
13:14Old things pass away and old things become new.
13:18He is the concealer and revealer of all there is, wielding in his hand, the trident, a symbol of his
13:26power over the three worlds, some say a weapon with which he impales the wicked.
13:32In Vedic mythology and religion, Shiva is known as Rudra.
13:36Once upon a time, a powerful demon king called Tarakasura invaded the realms of the immortals and men, subjecting all
13:47to suffering and slavery.
13:50Tarakasura was no ordinary demon, he had been touched by Shiva, blessed with divine immunity that not even an avatar
13:58of Lord Vishnu could kill him.
14:00Why was that?
14:03Sometimes, asuras perform heroic feats and are rewarded by the supreme Trimorti with unique gifts.
14:12Most of the time, these asuras take advantage of their gifts to oppress the innocent and destroy that which is
14:20good.
14:21This was the case of Tarakasura, and he would not be the only demon to do this, for there would
14:27be many more.
14:28Calling upon the great god Brahma for help, the goddess of devotion and motherhood, Pavati, asked for a way to
14:37defeat Tarakasura.
14:39Because Tarakasura had been blessed by Shiva, only an offspring of Shiva could kill him, Brahma revealed.
14:47He instructed Pavati to do a sacred puja with Shiva, a sacred ritual where the goddess submits and surrenders herself
14:56wholly to Shiva to conceive his offspring.
15:00Following the advice, Pavati took to action, but there was a problem.
15:06Shiva was a celibate yogi, and thus, the mundane feelings of love, lust and passion were dead to him.
15:15How could she arouse in him the desire to unite with her?
15:19Coming up with a risky solution, the only solution she could think of, Pavati employed the help of Karma, the
15:27god of human love and erotic desire.
15:30Come, Kamadeva, enter the abode of the great Shiva and create in him lust and desire.
15:37This would prove to be a grave mistake, for Karma's powers were only dominant over mortals and a few immortals,
15:45and the great lord Shiva was no mortal and no ordinary immortal.
15:51Karma did exactly as he was told, bringing about an untimely spring, to create an atmosphere of love.
16:00Transforming into a sweet-smelling breeze, Karma breezed past Shiva's guard, Nondin, and entered Shiva's abode, unannounced, spreading the lovely
16:10fragrance all over the place, the perfect atmosphere, but he knew it wouldn't be enough.
16:16Karma and Pavati silently crept to where Shiva sat meditating, and Karma drew his arrow of love, shooting Shiva with
16:25the arrow, hoping to create in him erotic love.
16:29Such audacity.
16:31The great Shiva opened his third eye and glared furiously, burning Karma and his arrows into ashes.
16:40Turning to Pavati, Shiva questioned her as to why she had disturbed his peace, and she told him the truth.
16:48She realized it was the right thing to do, to come to the lord of truth, with the truth.
16:54And who knows, it might just work.
16:57And it did.
16:59Shiva recognized that Tarakasura was a monster of his own making, and only he could undo this harm he had
17:07inadvertently inflicted upon the world.
17:10Thus, Shiva agreed to a sacred puja with Pavati, in the form of a roaring flame, and their son, Kartikeya,
17:19the god of war, was born, and would go on to slay the demon, Tarakasura.
17:26Pavati became the consort of Shiva, thenceforth, and Shiva would later resurrect Karma, but cursed him to be without a
17:34body, due to his impetuousness.
17:37Now Karma roams the cosmos, bodiless, inflicting humanity with his powers of love.
18:02God is of wisdom, and of speech, Sound knowledge and the arts, do I teach.
18:09Come, if only thy heart would yearn, My arts and skills, thou would learn.
18:16I am one, and I am many, I live in all women, and they in me.
18:23The east, west, south and north, I am every direction of the wondrous earth.
18:35Saraswati, the mother goddess, queen of the heavens, goddess of knowledge, the first of the tridivi, the three supreme goddesses.
18:44She is the goddess of music and the arts, goddess of wisdom and learning, goddess of history and the sciences,
18:53goddess of the rivers and lakes.
18:57Saraswati is the wife and consort of the great god Brahma.
19:01Just as Vishnu and Shiva are the manifestations of Brahma, Lakshmi and Parvati are the manifestations of Saraswati, and so
19:11are Durga and Kali.
19:13What does that mean?
19:15It means Saraswati is Lakshmi, and Saraswati is Durga.
19:21Saraswati is Parvati, and Saraswati is Kali.
19:25As Lakshmi, she is the goddess of wealth and good fortune.
19:30As Durga, she is the warrior goddess of protection and war.
19:35As Parvati, she is the goddess of devotion and motherhood, and as Kali, she is the goddess of destruction and
19:44justice.
19:45Patron of women, Saraswati dwells in the hearts of all women, the young and the old.
19:56She has eight arms, wielding a trident, a bell, a discus, a pestle, a conch, a plowshare, a bow, and
20:07an arrow.
20:08Sometimes she appears with only four arms, holding a book, a water pot, a rosary, and a musical instrument called
20:18Veena, much like her husband, Brahma.
20:21The book, representing knowledge and the scriptures.
20:25The water pot, representing rebirth and purification.
20:29The rosary, representing meditation and deep concentration.
20:34And the Veena, representing the arts and music.
20:59God is of plenty, giver of wealth.
21:01Blessed are those who earn their wealth.
21:05Who toil hard in truth and sweat.
21:07For theirs in abundance are riches and mirth.
21:12Goddess of war, queen of the earth.
21:15Liberator of the cycle of life and death.
21:18I guard the honest, the brave and the bold.
21:21And shun the unruly, for dharma I am called.
21:30Lakshmi, goddess of wealth, goddess of fortune, the second of the tridivi, the triple supreme goddesses.
21:39She is the goddess of the chakras, the wife of Vishnu, she who all women are embodiments of.
21:46She whose face is as beautiful as the lotus.
21:50Those who seek spiritual and material wealth, pray to Lakshmi.
21:55For she is the goddess of power, beauty, and spiritual and material wealth.
22:01She who never leaves her husband's side.
22:04Whenever Vishnu descends to the earth in the form of an avatar.
22:08Lakshmi descends with him as the avatar's wife.
22:12Whenever Vishnu reincarnates into another avatar.
22:16Lakshmi reincarnates with him as his consort.
22:20When Vishnu came to the world as Rama.
22:23Lakshmi came as his wife, Sita.
22:26When Vishnu came to the world as Krishna.
22:29Lakshmi came as his wife, Radha.
22:32Some call her, Rupmini.
22:35She is the ever loyal wife of Vishnu.
22:38An ever faithful consort.
22:39The active energy of her husband.
22:43The emphasis to his qualities.
22:45The light to his son.
22:47And the insight to his knowledge.
22:49She is the intermediary between humanity and the supreme.
22:54For those who seek divine mercy and grace.
22:57Pray to Lakshmi to intercede on their behalf.
23:01Lakshmi is also known as Durga.
23:03For she is a dual deity.
23:06The warrior Devi, Durga.
23:08Being her second personality.
23:11In the form of Durga.
23:13Lakshmi becomes the goddess of war.
23:15Strength.
23:16And protection.
23:18With eight arms.
23:19Some say eighteen arms.
23:21All armed.
23:22With weapons.
23:24She rides on a Garuda.
23:26Or a tiger.
23:27Or a lion.
23:29Slaying the forces of evil wherever she rides.
23:31Preserving the power of good.
23:34Over evil.
23:35Much like her husband.
23:37Vishnu.
23:38Once upon a time.
23:40There was an Asura called Mahishashura.
23:43Who served Brahma for many years.
23:45To obtain the great god's favor.
23:48Brahma was pleased with this demon.
23:51And promised to grant him one wish.
23:54Mahishashura asked for immortality.
23:56But the great Brahma knew better than to grant such a wish.
24:00Asking him to pick another.
24:03The Asura thought for a while.
24:05Then asked.
24:06That no mortal man.
24:08Or man god.
24:09Be able to kill him.
24:11His wish was granted.
24:13And shortly after.
24:14He became a rogue.
24:17Mahishashura used his new found power as an advantage.
24:21To oppress.
24:22Torture.
24:23And kill.
24:24He no longer feared Brahma.
24:27Nor the other two of the trimorti.
24:29After all.
24:30No man god could kill him.
24:33Alas.
24:34He paid no attention to the women.
24:37For in his eyes.
24:38All women were weak.
24:41Mortal or divine.
24:42And this.
24:43Would spell his doom.
24:46Mahishashura defeated and enslaved both men and gods alike.
24:50And when the news of his exploits reached the heavens.
24:54Vishnu summoned from his wife Lakshmi.
24:57A warrior with eight arms.
24:59Some say eighteen arms.
25:01All armed with swords and shields.
25:04Ready for battle.
25:05They called her Durga.
25:08Mounting her lion.
25:10Durga rode to Mahishashura's abode in the dark underworld.
25:13And there.
25:14The great Ashura was slain.
25:17By the woman warrior.
25:18H therefore.
25:18They went away from the edge of secrecy.
25:18Time in Quebec.
25:28The force to caterp Yeachtas
25:38I am a goddess and I am a demon.
25:41Gentle and yet fierce.
25:42kind and yet ruthless. I am a beauty and I am a monster, comely and yet dreadful,
25:50lovely and yet terrifying. I am the light and I am the darkness, I bring justice and I bring
25:57death. I am your best ally and your worst foe, your sweetest dreams and your worst nightmare.
26:09Bhavati, goddess of motherhood, goddess of devotion, the third of the Tridivi, the triple
26:16supreme goddesses. She is the goddess of harmony, the goddess of nourishment, the wife and consort
26:24of Shiva. Once upon a time, Shiva came down to earth as a humble yogi, walking amongst the poor,
26:32wearing tiger hide as clothes, his body smeared with ash. He lived on Mount Kailash of the Himalayas
26:40and loved all beings the same. He saw no difference between good and bad and was followed by men and
26:48monsters alike. One day, a princess called Sati, daughter of a wealthy king called Daksha, fell
26:57in love with Shiva. And after undergoing many austere practices of meditation and self-discipline,
27:04Sati became worthy of Shiva and married him, much to her father's disappointment.
27:10Daksha grew a deep hatred for his daughter and her husband, wasting no time in subjecting them to
27:16severe public humiliation. Whenever he got the chance and unable to bear it any longer, Sati committed
27:23suicide by jumping into flames during a fire sacrifice called Yajna. Enraged by the death
27:31of his wife, Shiva let go of his peaceful ways and summoned two Asuras to kill Daksha.
27:38The Asuras beheaded Daksha and devoured him, and the ceremony of Yajna was abolished.
27:44Thenceforth, Sati reincarnated into a new Devi, a new goddess. This was Pavati, and she would become
27:53Shiva's wife again during their sacred puja, which gave rise to their first son, Kartikeya, the god of war.
28:02Pavati is a goddess of dual nature, a kind Devi in one form, and a merciless Asura in another form.
28:10As a bloodthirsty demon, she is called Kali, or Mahakali. And when she becomes this dark deity,
28:20she is no longer the serene submissive wife of Shiva, she becomes a raging untamable force,
28:27standing on top of her husband as a sign of dominance. As Kali, she is the goddess of death
28:34and destruction, reveling in bloodshed and ruthless destruction. However, Kali is not like the other
28:42Asuras, she is an Asura of truth and justice, and a foe to her evil and wicked brethren.
28:49With deep sunken red eyes and red tongue lolling out between sharp fangs, she is a horror to behold.
28:57With a dark blue skin and a terrifying roar, she strikes fear in the hearts of brave men and mighty
29:05Asuras alike. Wearing a necklace of skulls and armed with a sword and a lasso, she slays the mighty
29:14Asuras, the foes of the Devas. Kali battles wickedness with wickedness and injustice with merciless justice.
29:23An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and blood for blood. She is that last force which
29:31appears
29:31when the powers of good and mercy fail to prevail over evil and wickedness. Once upon a time,
29:39the goddess Lakshmi, in her warrior Formas Durga, was engaged in a fierce battle with a powerful Asura
29:46called Raktabija. Each time Durga wounded Raktabija, she created two more enemies,
29:55for this demon duplicated himself from every drop of blood that dripped from his wound.
30:01Raktabija had been gifted by Shiva with the power to resuscitate and duplicate himself from every drop
30:08of his own blood. And thus, the many efforts of Durga to slay this Asura proved futile, as she only
30:17created
30:18a large army of Raktabija who threatened to overwhelm her. Durga knew she had spelled her own defeat,
30:26and just before the Asuras closed in on her, she summoned the ferocious Kali, and out of the dark
30:33clouds, Kali appeared, hungry for demon blood. Slashing and stabbing through Raktabija's clones,
30:41Kali devoured his body and consumed his blood before it could drop to the ground, making it impossible
30:48for the Asura to duplicate. This, the demon goddess did, until Raktabija and all of his clones had been
30:57slain.
31:23From a curse, they say I came, but by the divine, my birth was
31:28ordained. Quick as the wind, strong as the land, by neither fire nor water shall I be harmed.
31:36Right hand man of the prince Rama, it is I, Hanuman, king of the Van Arak.
31:47Hanuman, the divine monkey, the lord of monkeys, the god of strength and courage.
31:54He is the most valiant one, the celibate god of heroism and martial arts, the patron of self-control
32:02and loyal servitude, the perfect example of discipline and excellence, the one whose limbs
32:08are as strong as diamond. Hanuman was the sworn servant of Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu,
32:16and his wife, Sita, a loyal companion and a devoted guardian, accompanying Rama in all of his journeys
32:24and fighting alongside him in all of his battles. Some say Hanuman is an avatar of Shiva, while others
32:32say he was just a divine hero, gifted with godly powers, not the incarnation of Shiva himself.
32:40Once upon a time, there was a Vanara princess, a monkey princess, called Anjana. Anjana was not
32:48always a monkey, she was once a beautiful nymph, but because she had mocked and thrown stones at a
32:55monkey sage while he was meditating and praying to Lord Shiva, the monkey sage cursed her to forever be
33:02a monkey and without a child until she is pardoned by Shiva. Thus, as a monkey, Anjana spent her life
33:11in the worship and service of Shiva as penance for her sins. After a long time of service and
33:18austerities, Shiva was pleased and Anjana was redeemed, her curse lifted. She would still remain a Vanara,
33:28but she would beget a child, she would bring forth a godly child, gifted with divine powers,
33:35a child blessed by the Lord Shiva. One day, as Anjana was meditating, the god of the wind called Vayu,
33:44dropped a blessed dumpling onto her palms, instructing her to eat it. Anjana ate the dumpling,
33:51conceiving a child, and when time came, a monkey child was born. They called him Hanuman,
33:58the wind god Vayu, serving as the child's father. Even as a baby, Hanuman could leap to great heights,
34:07effortlessly, gorge down heaps of food, and still feel like he had not eaten enough,
34:13he had a voracious appetite. On a fateful day, he was hungry, not because he had not been fed,
34:22but because his gluttony had gotten hold of him again. Looking up to the sky, he saw the yellow sun,
34:30and thinking it was a fruit, he leapt up to grab the sun, only to be burned into ashes.
34:37When the wind god Vayu heard what had happened to his son, he withdrew his wind from the heavens and
34:43the earth, in grief and sorrow, and all living things began to suffer. Seeing the foolish mistake
34:51of an innocent baby, Lord Shiva gathered the ashes, bringing Hanuman back to life. To make Vayu bring
34:59back his wind to the skies and the earth, the gods of the high, granted this little monkey,
35:05six wishes, six gifts. His skin and bones would be as tough as diamond, but not even the sun and
35:13lightning can harm him, he would become as fast as the wind, and shall not be harmed by it, he
35:20would
35:20become as strong as the earth, traveling great distances within a twinkling, and without restrictions.
35:27Fire will not harm him, water will not harm him, and he shall become an immortal, thenceforth.
35:35Hanuman grew to be a mischievous teenager, using his divine powers to play pranks on people.
35:43Alas, he came across an old sage, who sat, meditating, and as usual, played his pranks on
35:51him, and so to keep him from misusing his powers as the ignorant teenager he was,
35:56the sage cursed him to forget he had any powers, until he became a wise adult. He shall remain
36:03unaware of his divine abilities, until he gains the wisdom of age, only then shall he be reminded of
36:11the powers he possessed. And so it was, as a wise adult, and wielding a weapon called Goda,
36:19Hanuman would use his powers to serve the avatar, Rama, accompanying and aiding him in all of his
36:26journeys and battles, watching over him, every step of the way.
