Some close calls arrive without warning and leave only a few seconds to react.

Irina is running as rain and wind pick up, with a utility pole ahead sparking near its top. As she approaches, the pole begins to tilt and then drops across the roadway.

“I went for a morning run in my hometown. The weather was sunny and very hot, but after 10 minutes, the sky became covered with clouds, and a storm began with strong winds and heavy rain. I ran back home with my favorite song playing in my headphones. Ahead of me, I saw an electric pole sparking. I was upset that the safety of residents had not been taken seriously, so I turned on my camera to film the situation. As I was running almost underneath the pole, I noticed it starting to fall. I took half a step back, and luckily, I was not hit by the pole or the exposed live wires. I quickly jumped back a couple of meters and moved away from the area,” the filmer, Irina, told WooGlobe.

The moment turns an ordinary run into a quick lesson in how fast everyday infrastructure can become dangerous. Irina moves away from the area as the fallen lines remain on the ground.
