00:00The wrong person. I have never been a political filmmaker, and I have no wisdom on social
00:12matters or political matters. I've always done relationships between people, existential
00:21things and romantic things, and whenever I'm asked questions about social matters or political
00:28matters, you know, I know only what I read in the newspapers and have no deeper insights or no
00:37closer insights into the truth of the matters than the average person. I'd always thought of
00:46Madrid as a very elegant and beautiful city and perfect for the kind of diplomatic atmosphere
00:55that I wanted for the story. You know, it's a beautiful, beautiful city. There's no question.
01:03I'm very taken. If you come from New York and you come to these European cities, they seem
01:11so exotic to you and so beautiful, so broad and with open boulevards and tree-lined streets
01:20and buildings that are architecturally exotic and impactful and go back hundreds of years,
01:29very different than if you go to an American city. And this was not new to me in Madrid because
01:37I've been here a number of times before and it remains, as I had thought of it in my mind,
01:45as a perfect city for this particular movie.
