00:00Solihull Council has set out where thousands of new homes could be built as part of its draft local plan,
00:07including major development around railway stations and areas of the Green Belt.
00:13The plan covers growth through to 2043 and is designed to help the borough meet government housing requirements.
00:21One policy identifies enough land for at least 13,096 additional homes,
00:28contributing towards a total of 21,913 homes between 2026 and 2043.
00:36Of those, 8,219 homes are linked to broad locations around railway stations,
00:44following national planning guidance encouraging development near well-connected transport hubs.
00:50The largest identified location is around Shirley, Whitlock's End and Withall stations
00:56with capacity for 1,577 homes.
01:00Birkswell and Hampton-in-Arden are each listed for 1,350.
01:05Tile Hill for 1,190.
01:08And land near the third phase of the Borsal Common Relief Road for 1,100.
01:14Dorage, Whitney Manor and Marston Green are also included.
01:18A separate list carries forward sites from the council's previous local plan,
01:22accounting for another 4,877 homes where planning permission has not yet been granted.
