π¬ A train π pulls into Dhaka Airport Railway Station in Bangladesh π§π©, and the sight is alarming. A huge crowd of people is riding on the roof of the coaches β¬οΈ, and many of them are standing upright with nothing to hold onto π¨. Even the locomotive is not spared: people are packed onto its roof, and one person can be seen sitting right at the front, outside the locomotive cab where the loco master sits, in an extremely risky position on the exterior β οΈ.
βοΈ In Bangladesh, riding on a train roof is a punishable offence π«, yet enforcement is very limited and the practice continues. Overhead electric lines β‘, low structures, sudden jolts, sharp turns and slippery surfaces can cause fatal falls, electrocution and crush injuries π. Sitting on or in front of a locomotive is even more dangerous, as one sudden brake or a single slip can mean certain death π¨.
π₯ This awareness video highlights the deadly risks of roof travel and riding on the locomotive, and urges every passenger to travel safely inside the coaches β
. Your life is worth more than a seat on a roof πβ€οΈ.
