00:01Sunderland's Crown Works Film Studio has been granted planning permission, paving the way for
00:06the first phase of the development. Studio One will include three sound stages, production,
00:11accommodation, backlot space and a car park. The WH Foster Printworks building will also be
00:17refurbished. Site preparation and remediation are complete, with further enabling work needed before
00:22construction starts. Officials previously said building work was expected to be in autumn.
00:27The development has more than £38 million of public funding from the North East
00:33Mayoral Strategic Authority. The original £450 million plans were scaled back after investors withdrew.
