00:00That day she was prepping the meal for the baby and the baby was in the crib, most likely playing
00:06and the baby's always like making noises and that's when she noticed that her baby wasn't talking or making noises
00:19and she went to him and she found him laying on his belly and unresponsive.
00:25Then she like she started like doing like, you know, giving like back rows in his back and he was
00:33unresponsive.
00:34She went out and she started screaming that she need help. All the neighbors came and gathered and that's when
00:40we showed up and helped the baby.
00:44And just to make sure, was he, he wasn't eating anything? Was it a toy? What was he choking on?
00:50We don't know yet what was it.
00:52Nothing came out?
00:53Yeah, something came out when Officer Arias was giving him both backpacks in his back and that's when he felt
01:03something on his boot, right?
01:05Yeah, so pretty much what was happening was after I was giving him the back slaps, I had felt something
01:11fall off and that's when he started crying and started breathing again.
01:14So once he started crying and breathing, I didn't really look to see what it was. I didn't want to
01:18make sure that he was all right.
01:19That's when I picked him up, saw that he was crying, that he was okay. And from there, I just
01:24took him and consulted him and showed that he was all right.
01:26Was it a 911 call that caused you to respond?
01:31So the initial, we were on our way to another job. We were actually on the concourse driving on the
01:38way to the job when a random, like, good Samaritan flagged us down and said,
01:43Hey, something's going on over here. When we looked over to our left side, that's when we saw the group
01:48of people being admittedly, you know, made a U-turn.
01:52Once I made that U-turn, I saw a mom come out with her or her son, you know, just
01:57put into park and just went straight to work.
02:00And you said something fell in your boot. Was it an object?
02:03I wasn't, I wasn't really sure because, um, again, like once, once I heard the cry, I knew like, all
02:09right, like he's all right for right now.
02:11I just wanted to make sure like, um, I think if you actually see in the video, I checked to
02:15see if there's anything else in his mouth.
02:16Um, so I, I continued to give him a little more. Once he got, once I got that full cry,
02:21I was trying to know he was all right.
02:23So I just wanted to make sure that he was good, had, you know, little back pats and apologize for
02:28hitting him so hard in the back.
02:30Have you ever done this before on the job or is this your first time, you know, saving a child
02:34that was choking?
02:36Um, yeah, when it comes to the job, this is my first time ever doing that with a child.
02:40And I thank God that, you know, everything worked out for the best.
02:44Um, but yeah, it's still pretty much the first time I've done it for a child.
02:48What went through your head when you realized he was in distress?
02:51Well, I'm a, I'm a father of two. So, um, immediately, I know, I already know this, a parent's worst
02:58nightmare.
02:59So just getting there, going straight to work, I wanted to make sure that if I wasn't able to do
03:05anything then,
03:06I would be able to save them long enough for EMS or paramedics, someone to get there and, um, you
03:13know, do what they have to do.
03:16How long have both of you been on that service?
03:18I hear five years in April.
03:21I'll hear seven on January.
03:41I can translate. Um, I called The Sense of Belief. Um, from the minute the baby started reading, um,
03:54responsive I was just very grateful can can she say she's on the microphone sorry can you translate
04:01what she said she said that she felt oh how's that say that let me rephrase she felt relieved
04:09when the baby started crying and responsive so she's like very grateful for us as well
04:19you can say hi to her so auntie is awesome
