00:01The official Brisbane 2032 Olympic YouTube channel has spoiled their own surprise effectively.
00:08They've released the full logo reveal about three days prior to when it was scheduled
00:14to be released.
00:15So it's also, it's particularly unfortunate because they've been making a pretty big song
00:19and dance of slowly drip feeding us what this logo will entail.
00:24There's been a whole statewide tour really.
00:26They've even enlisted some big names to help out.
00:29We saw Ian Thorpe and Scooter Patterson at the unveiling of one of the pieces of that
00:33logo in Cairns.
00:34And then a few days ago, we also had Nat Cook and Alexa Leary on top of a mountain on
00:38the
00:38Sunshine Coast unveiling another little piece of it.
00:40So it has really been a slow process that then they've just kind of spoiled right at
00:45the punch.
00:46Yeah, it had been this like days worth of sort of build up, as you were saying.
00:51And, you know, it was as we're seeing pictures, there are people seeing little bits and pieces
00:55of it at a time.
00:57Now that we've got the full logo, take us through it.
01:01What does it look like?
01:01So, of course, a few days early, we didn't have to wait as long as we expected to.
01:07We've been told that this logo, they've gone for a cockatoo motif.
01:10So as well as early releasing the logo, they've also released the description of what it means.
01:15So I can walk you through that.
01:16So the emblems are inspired by the spirited cockatoo, a symbol of Australia's unique wildlife
01:22and playful heart.
01:23The cockatoo's crest is a living torch, reminiscent of the iconic Olympic and Paralympic flames.
01:29So you can also see the logo is in the shape of the state of Queensland.
01:33And the little eye of the cockatoo is Brisbane, because, of course, all eyes will be on Brisbane
01:40in 2032.
01:41OK.
01:42Yeah, no, I see that.
01:43I can see that.
01:44All right.
01:44And how has the organising committee responded now, Molly, that this is all sort of, their
01:49big surprise has been blown?
01:51Well, look, of course, it's objectively pretty embarrassing for them.
01:54You know, they've certainly jumped the gun on something that they were making quite a
01:57big deal about, but they have really taken it in their stride.
02:01Now, ironically, the entire Olympic planning committee was standing up for a press conference
02:05on the Gold Coast this morning to unveil another one of those little pieces.
02:10But, of course, they had to push that forward a little bit, and they've revealed the full
02:13thing.
02:14Now, we heard from one of the members of the planning committee, as I said, they're taking
02:17it in their stride.
02:18They're being pretty good sports about it.
02:19Let's have a listen to what Brent Hill said.
02:22If we had our time over, maybe there's different ways that we could have done it.
02:26But from that perspective, the overarching piece from our side is still the fact that we wanted
02:33people to, you know, to guess, we wanted the clues to be out there, and now it's
02:38out there, and your reaction to it's been really positive.
02:41So that's what's exciting.
02:43So Mel, the planning committee says, actually, it's a good thing.
02:46It's a good thing.
02:47Everyone gets to see it early, and we're all very, very excited about it.
