00:01The International Energy Agency, or IEA, on Saturday said around 325 million barrels of oil had been released from strategic
00:11reserves since March, amid the escalating conflicts in the Middle East.
00:16This represented over 80% of the 400 million barrels originally pledged from the collective action announced by the IEA.
00:25Its executive director, Fatih Birol, had said the world leaders had agreed to release more diesel and oil to the
00:32markets which were reacting to the news, and a decline in prices had begun.
00:36The G7 leaders said on Friday, in coordination with the IEA, they will release up to 100 million barrels of
00:45diesel and other oil reserves over the next four months.
00:49The pledge in March to release 400 million barrels of oil was the largest such move in the IEA's history.
00:57Farmers in Italy's Sicily staged a tractor protest on Saturday, saying that soaring fuel costs have brought agricultural activity to
01:07a halt, just as the autumn sowing season approaches.
01:10As a minimum, we can go, according to the horsepower of the car, from a minimum of 350 euro per
01:17day to a maximum of 600 euro per day.
01:20For the cars a little bigger, for the companies a little bigger.
01:24We can go ahead, no, we can't, we are closed.
01:26We had already had to be with half the work done for the preparation of the seed, but we are
01:31closed.
01:32The price of the carburant is what has hit us before, what has hit us before, because at this moment
01:38we have to be with the ground,
01:40and we have to be prepared for the seed, which will be developed from here to the next month.
01:47We are closed completely because, having had other problems before,
01:50today we can't buy the carburant, even if the carburant has been adjusted.
01:56So for agriculture, it has a price that is more than doubled.
02:00In Germany, house and business owners are shocked by the rising cost of heating oil,
02:06which powers up to 25% of households in the country.
02:10We have now 3.000 liters for 100 liters, and the 100 liters are now without the cost of heating
02:17oil,
02:17which comes down to the cost of heating oil, which comes down to the cost of heating oil,
02:19at 148 euro, or 158, excuse me, 158 euro per 100 liters.
02:25And that is already very much money.
02:28We merken it extremely, so um ehrlich to be, is man just shocked, just shocked.
02:33Because why 100 liters of heating oil costs 160 euro?
02:57Peter and Krebs, which is a fifth generation fuel supplier in Berlin,
03:01said many customers are no longer filling up their tanks completely,
03:06and instead, they are only ordering enough to get by,
03:09opting for half-load deliveries or much smaller orders than usual.
