00:07Founded by Mujab Kholasuri in 2016, it collects and labels data to train AI.
00:15For example, a car without driver, a safe driving car, it is called autonomous driving.
00:20So in order to teach this machine or this car how to drive in traffic,
00:25what is human, what is road, what is vehicles,
00:27we teach the machines by labelling, annotating objects.
00:33Infolks now employs hundreds of workers.
00:36Among them are many women.
00:38One of them was Roshni.
00:39After her father's death, she had to help feed her family.
00:44This job feels like giving an individuality to me.
00:50I feel as an individual, like I am earning now, I am self-dependent
00:54and I have freedom, like financial freedom is something different if you are experiencing that.
01:01Compared to wages for similar jobs in countries like the US, new hires earn much less.
01:06But the chances of career advancement are good for women in Kerala businesses,
01:10especially if, like Roshni, they are educated.
01:14When we take the stories of our mothers or any women related to our family, friends or anything,
01:20we could see that they have got a lot of struggle to at least to learn or to go to
01:24work and help.
01:25But the infrastructure has changed a lot and the mentality of people has also changed a lot.
01:31But the reality is, in rural areas, people often have few other options.
01:36It's just enough to keep them dependent because they cannot leave the work,
01:41they cannot complain, they cannot ask for better conditions
01:44because otherwise they are fired and they don't have other opportunities.
01:49Roshni said that didn't apply to her.
01:51The company offered maternity pay and health insurance, for example.
01:56We could save for ourselves and we can give a better life for our family also.
