00:03J.J. McCarthy found a new home earlier this week,
00:06and it would appear that he'll probably play, I would say,
00:09at some point for the New York Giants.
00:10Jameis Winston is currently their backup quarterback there, Joe.
00:14And look, you don't make this kind of trade, I don't think,
00:17without wanting to experiment a little bit.
00:19I don't know that it's necessarily a lost season yet for the Giants, Joe,
00:22but to think that they're going to go anywhere is probably unrealistic.
00:25A sense I get is McCarthy will start at some point for the Giants this season.
00:30I like Jameis Winston.
00:31He's a fun guy, and he'll be a great broadcaster,
00:35but he hasn't been a starter in realistically 10 years.
00:38So I would think this is a trade to see if you get anything from McCarthy,
00:42and maybe so, maybe you could trade him in the offseason
00:45and get something for him too.
00:46I like this trade.
00:47Look, I think it's worth a shot.
00:49I think what's interesting is that the offense was tailored towards Jackson Dart,
00:53who theoretically is much more stylistically like J.J. McCarthy
00:58than he would be like Jameis Winston, right?
01:00So it's a very different offense than running with Winston at this stage in his career.

01:09I don't know what, I mean, what time warp we're in on here, but here we are.

01:15I do think it's a smart deal.
01:16I do think we'll see him eventually.
01:18I don't know if it's going to be right away, though,
01:19because if you look at the Giants schedule,
01:20this is a winnable game for them at home against Arizona.
01:23They have a winnable game against Washington.
01:24Then they have New Orleans and Houston.
01:27So I think they'll get evaluated on the bye.
01:29And they come out week eight.
01:30They get Philadelphia and Washington.
01:32I think depending on how that run goes,
01:35then you would see J.J. McCarthy realistically.
01:37I think the Giants, to your point, it is early in the season.
01:40Let's not give up on the season completely quite yet.
01:42But if things don't go well coming out of that bye in that Philly game
01:46or then that Washington commander game subsequently,
01:48then you might get the evaluation of, let's see,
01:50we've had a couple of weeks here.
01:51We've had extra week of practice with the bye for J.J. McCarthy
01:54to learn the offense and let's see what we can get out of him.
01:56That seems realistic to me.
01:57But I think Winston holds his job for the next six weeks,
