00:04AI is moving beyond tools that answer questions and generate content.
00:08Now the focus is on AI that can actually help carry out our tasks for us.
00:12Here at the Google Cloud Summit in Doha, the question is what that means for businesses,
00:16and whether they're ready for it.
00:19It's known as the Gentic AI.
00:22Instead of simply responding to a prompt,
00:24AI can take on a task and go through the steps needed to complete it.
00:28For businesses, that could mean handing over some of the repetitive work currently done by people.
00:34An agent is very well suited to that sort of highly repetitive database work,
00:39where it would drive a significant level of efficiency.
00:41One example is processing invoices and checking information about different systems before a payment is approved.
00:47But giving AI the ability to act rather than simply answer raises another question.
00:53What happens when it gets something wrong?
00:56We still always advocate to having at this stage a human in the loop to verify for the business
01:01that the results they're looking at.
01:02But the humans are looking at the exception rather than the entire data stack.
01:06Here in Qatar, Google is marking three years since opening its cloud infrastructure.
01:11The company says it is now expanding those services as businesses and government bodies look at how they can use
01:18more advanced AI.
01:19We are doubling down on our services to accommodate this ancient AI era.
01:25So in our data centers, to cope with how the technology and how the AI is moving,
01:32you need also the right infrastructure in place.
01:37Then there's the question of skills.
01:39Google Cloud and the Qatar Digital Academy say a new program will offer more than 50,000 AI learning opportunities
01:46by 2030.
01:47And a new innovation lab with Qatar's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology
01:52is designed to help move AI projects from testing into real-world use.
01:57And then there's what all of this could mean for workers.
02:00Rutter believes managing AI agents could eventually become part of the job.
02:05I think what is very real is we're going to have non-people managers.
02:08We'll then have agent managers.
02:10And then we'll have people that manage people and agents together.
02:13How quickly that happens is much harder to predict.
02:16For now, businesses are still working out what they want AI agents to do
02:20and how much control they're willing to give them.
02:23Abu Halim, your news, Doha.
