00:11One of the best parts about being involved in a cricket broadcast
00:14is that you get to witness moments in history in real time.
00:18For the rest of us, you have to scroll through the chapters of the gentleman's game.
00:22Not anymore, we tell you what is special about this week in October.
00:26Welcome back to a fresh new season of this week's special.
00:30Since we're here in Rajkot, I think it's fitting that we begin with our hometown hero, Chaiteshwa Pujara.
00:36It was this week in October on the 9th in 2000.
00:39It's easy to understand why Chaiteshwa Pujara is a rising cog in India's ascent to their number one status.
00:48In November 2017, Chaiteshwa Pujara scored his 12th double hundred in first class cricket,
00:54surpassing the record set by Vijay Merchant.
00:57Speaking of which, it's on the 12th of October in 1911 that the iconic Vijay Merchant was born.
01:03He was a goliath in domestic cricket, founder of the Bombay School of Batting,
01:08a solid defense and a steely temperament.
01:12His first class average of 71 was second only to Sir Donald Bradman.
01:16And because of the Second World War, he played only 10 test matches for the country.
01:23It's a beautiful day here in Hyderabad as we await the second test match between India and West Indies.
01:29And I've got Sunil Gavaskar and Ian Bishop besides me.
01:32In fact, Sunny, if I could ask you, two years ago, almost to the day, what were you doing?
01:39Good morning, my dear. Good morning, Bish.
01:40Yes, two years ago, I presented Virat Kohli with the ICC Mace for being the best test team.
01:48And the Indian team has since then only been going up, up, up, up.
01:53Up, up, up. What do you say, Bish?
01:55Well, Sunny may have won round one, Sunny, that first test match.
02:00But let me remind Sunny that the Windleys have two senior bowlers back, Jason Holder and Kemar Roach.
02:07And then they've got Kyran Powell and Roston Chase, Sunny, in good form.
02:12So this will not be as easy as India had it in that first test match.
02:16There you go. This is what we like to hear.
02:19Look, Team India on the verge of equaling a record ten consecutive series victories at home.
02:24On the other hand, West Indies with some of the favourites back will look to come out swinging.
02:28Everything to play for here in Hyderabad on Nerulang Cricket Live.
