00:00What's your thoughts on the mansion tax? Because I think this is one of the most hit constituencies in the
00:04country.
00:04I understand that there are some homes here that are at a certain level of price where people aren't necessarily
00:13rich
00:13or feel like there would be a pressure on them and I definitely want to make sure those people are
00:18listened to and supported.
00:20But I also think we are living through a housing crisis and anything that can alleviate the pressure
00:26for the vast majority of people in this situation and improve the housing crisis is really important to look at.
00:31And there is talk about John Healy, the budget, bringing down the mansion tax to homes worth over £1.5
00:37million rather than £2 million.
00:38That would hit a lot more homes in this constituency, many of them sort of regular kind of three-bedroom,
00:4470-tached homes, not like the sort of castles that you might see up north that are worth that money.
00:48What do you sort of say to those people who may find themselves suddenly hit with a big extra bill?
00:52Yeah, I think it's definitely, I don't want to pre-empt or pre-judge the budget without having seen it.
00:57But yeah, those concerns are concerns I've been thinking about and would definitely raise once we've seen it before
01:04or in the conversations for the budget.
01:06But yeah, I do understand the pressures people are facing across the board,
01:10both in those people who own their own homes and those who are trying to buy properties.
01:17The prices here are really unaffordable for lots and lots of people,
01:20so making sure that the housing prices are dealt with is one of my top priorities.
