00:00A city in its darkest hour that captured the heart of Drew Brees, who was in search of a new
00:06team
00:06after a near career-ending injury.
00:09Drew and I looked at each other and said, this is God's calling in our life.
00:12Like, we belong here. This is about so much greater than just football.
00:15Then how many opportunities you get in your life to be a part of something like that?
00:18Some people would have seen all the devastation and run for the hills,
00:21but why decide in that moment that you're needed here?
00:25I was at a really tough place in my career.
00:27I was yearning for somebody to believe in me.
00:30And New Orleans was here wanting someone to believe in them.
00:34And that's where the match happened.
00:41Look at us.
00:42Look at us. That's it. It's like two people on their knees, and they need each other.
00:48Yeah.
00:48Yeah.
00:50The Saints, who are coming off a losing season, rebuilt as Cruz repaired the Superdome.
00:57New coach Sean Payton brought them into the stadium for their final practice
01:01before it was back open for business.
01:04Well, so the lights go out, and then here's footage from the storm
01:08and interviews with members of the community.
01:11I mean, not a dry eye in the house.
01:12And Sean looks at us, and he goes,
01:14I don't need to tell you that Monday night is going to be special.
01:19He's like, but it's only special if you win.
01:25I mean, that was it.
