00:00Hi, so wonderful to meet you.
00:01Lovely to meet you too.
00:03So, Tila.
00:04Tila is an incredible character.
00:07She's a warrior with the royal guard.
00:10She is, she has serious power, pardon the pun.
00:14What was it like playing this character?
00:17And I'm curious how you think people are going to react to her and relate to her.
00:23Um, I mean, I loved playing Tila because I feel like I got to play many different layers
00:28of her.
00:29Obviously, she is a very tough outer shell, but you get little glimpses of this like
00:35inner sensitivity and empathetic side throughout, specifically when she's with Adam and in moments
00:41with her father where you can tell that there's a bit of a strained relationship and a little
00:46bit of resentment.
00:47You know, I see her very much as this parentified child, somebody who had to grow up really fast,
00:54really young.
00:55Um, and she's had to take on so much responsibility and hasn't really had a break.
01:01So I feel like that's something a lot of people this day and age can relate to.
01:05Definitely.
01:07Yeah.
01:07Oh, 100%.
01:08Um, not to drag your other work into this, but this isn't exactly your first time dipping
01:14your toe into science fiction.
01:16No.
01:16We saw on Riverdale, there were Griffins and Gargoyles and actual Griffins in Masters of
01:22the Universe.
01:23Yeah.
01:23I'm curious in doing this film, uh, is this part of a growing love for sci-fi?
01:29Sure.
01:30I love every genre, honestly.
01:32I think I've never been one, um, to completely write off genre.
01:36I'm a little scared of horror.
01:38Um, but like I would still do it if the, if the right thing came my way.
01:42Um, but no.
01:43Yeah.
01:43I would love to do more sci-fi.
01:45Totally.
01:45Yeah.
01:46I mean, it worked perfectly this time around.
01:47Yeah.
01:47Um, so this film, obviously there's some digital effects, but also there's really incredible
01:54sets like physical props, the costuming on set and kind of becoming an embodying Tila.
02:01Did it feel like you were in Eternia for real?
02:04What was that experience like for you?
02:05Well, the training process really felt like the perfect way to, to get into Tila's body
02:12because Tila had to train as a young girl, um, to get to where she's at.
02:16So through all the weight training and stunt training that I had to do, I felt like I
02:20was literally becoming Tila, um, through that process.
02:24And I, I remember, you know, I had a lot of sword training.
02:27Uh, I had to do some rifle training cause of her rifle staff.
02:31Um, and you know, when I finally got those props, that's when it really started to come
02:38together and come to life when I really got to hold her sword and hold her rifle staff.
02:42Um, because, you know, it's an extension of her.
02:46These weapons are an extension of her in a way.
02:48Um, so that, that really helped me sort of finalize her, her physicality.
02:53Absolutely.
02:54I, I mean, you're kind of action packed character.
02:58I was curious how much of those stunts are you, clearly you did so much training.
03:03Yeah.
03:03Is, is that you doing all of that amazing action?
03:06It's so impressive.
03:07I did everything, um, every stunt, but also I have a, an amazing stunt double who did everything
03:13as well.
03:14Um, and her name's Jo Rollison and she's amazing.
03:16And she's the one who was training me throughout that whole experience.
03:19Wow.
03:19Well, that's fantastic.
03:20I think that people are really going to love seeing, seeing that and, and really knowing
03:25that you put in all of that work.
03:26Yeah.
03:27So, uh, my last question is again about this character and her familial relationship.
03:32Um, what was it like trying to build that connection with Idris?
03:37I mean, you really seem like family.
03:39You can feel the tension.
03:40Um, where did that come from?
03:41Cause it, it's portrayed so well.
03:43Yeah.
03:44I mean, Idris is a delight.
03:48He was like, he immediately made me feel at ease when I met him.
03:51Um, because I was very nervous cause he's Idris Elba.
03:55Um, but he did, he did have such a fatherly energy toward me.
03:59And, and, um, I feel like he has this like protector energy.
04:04He's a father himself.
04:05So I feel like he really related to this story.
04:07Um, and, and both of us really were drawn to that father daughter relationship in the script.
04:13So when we got to set, there was just such a great dynamic between, um, between the two of us.
04:20Fantastic.
04:20Well, thank you so much.
