00:00Tropical Storm East Sias could form in the Gulf this week, and it could bring dangerous flooding to the southeast.
00:05We're watching this area in red in the Bay of Campeche for development.
00:08Right now, the most likely track takes it north toward the central Gulf Coast this weekend.
00:12But increasing wind shear could limit how strong it gets, with only about a 15% chance of it becoming
00:17a hurricane.
00:17It doesn't need to be a hurricane, though, to do some damage.
00:20Parts of the southeast are already dealing with repeated downpours, and another 1 to 4 inches, locally even up to
00:258 inches, could fall with this system.
00:28That could worsen flash flooding and lead to moderate or even major river flooding in some areas.
00:32Now, the exact track and impact should become clearer once this actually develops.
00:36We'll keep bringing updates, but for now, share this with someone in the southeast so they have a heads up.
