For his Spring/Summer 2027 couture eveningwear collection, “Séraphine,” designer Andrew Kwon looked to the idea of goddesses walking among us — blending the earthly with something more celestial.

“The silhouettes around the collection are very ethereal,” Kwon tells LifeMinute TV. Draping plays a major role, along with intricate embroidery, flowing shapes and diaphanous fabrics designed to feel light and almost otherworldly.

The materials come from around the world and include some of the most delicate fabrics Kwon has worked with, with tulle and chiffon playing key roles throughout the collection. He points to both the opening look, with its layered laces and draping, and the final look as two standout moments — calling the finale a true showstopper.

Music is also a major part of Kwon’s creative process. He says cinematic music and opera are constant inspirations, while “Anya” played a particularly strong role in shaping this season’s mood, bringing what he describes as a Lord of the Rings and goddess-like quality to the collection.

That sense of softness and drama extends into Kwon’s own home style, too. He gravitates toward whites, muted tones, pastels and neutrals with unexpected pops of color — a palette echoed in “Séraphine,” which begins in softer tones before moving into darker motifs and richer color toward the end.

00:00Hey guys, it's Andrew Kwan and you're watching Life Minute TV.
00:08The inspiration for this season, the collection is called Seraphim.
00:12So it's something crossing the worlds of goddesses that walk among us today and a celestial being.
00:18The silhouettes around the collection are very ethereal.
00:21Everything is very draped.
00:23There's some pieces that have incredible embroidery that really plays into the silhouettes of the collection,
00:27but it's very flowy, everything is very diaphanous, very Andrew Kwan.
00:33The fabrics come from all over the world.
00:35Some of the most delicate fabrics that could probably rip by just literally walking.
00:39A lot of precision that's going into it.
00:41Tool is another big player, starting from the roots of the collection as well, chiffons.
00:46I would say the opening look is something that I was very excited about,
00:50playing with this dichotomy of layering, laces and different types of draping,
00:56but also I would say the last look.
00:58It's such a showstopper and I'm very excited about that.
01:01Music plays a huge part of my design process and my everyday.
01:07And my team goes crazy when I play my playlists all the time,
01:10but I listen to a lot of cinematic music, opera.
01:13But I would say for this collection, Anya is someone that has been a huge inspiration in this collection.
01:18And you know, very Lord of the Rings and very goddessy.
01:22My home style compared to my design style.
01:25When you come to my house, there's a lot of white muted tones, pastels going on,
01:29a lot of neutrals, but there's always pops of color throughout my place that you'll see.
01:33And when you see the collection, you'll see that it really starts off with a neutral tone.
01:37And towards the end, there are little dark motifs and pops of color.
01:40So I would say they coincide with each other.
