00:00Did you know that someone survived 72 hours trapped underwater in a sunken ship?
00:04On May 26, 2013, the tugboat Jascon 4 was sailing in the Atlantic waters when a brutal storm
00:11He hit him.
00:12The waves shook it violently, look, until it finally capsized and sank to a depth of 30 meters.
00:17Of the 12 crew members on board, 11 died almost immediately.
00:21But one of them was still alive.
00:23Harrison O'Kinn, the ship's cook, was trapped in a small air pocket inside the sunken hull.
00:28Everything around him was darkness, cold, and floating corpses.
00:32The water was freezing, the oxygen was slowly running out, Harrison had no food or drinking water.
00:37To avoid being poisoned by CO2, he kept his head close to the water to absorb what little oxygen remained.
00:43Meanwhile, on the surface, rescue teams assumed that all crew members had died.
00:48Until three days later, a diver inspecting the wreckage felt something grab his hand.
00:53Harrison was still alive.
00:55The diver was so scared that he shouted into the radio,
00:57God, I found someone alive.
00:59The rescuers gave him an oxygen helmet and slowly pulled him out.
01:03After spending almost 72 hours underwater, his body had too much nitrogen.
01:08If they raised him too quickly, his blood could boil from decompression.
01:11So they took him to a hyperbaric chamber where he spent another two days before he could breathe normally.
01:17Harrison O'Kinn became a legend of the sea.
01:19To this day, he is the only human in history to have survived so long in a sunken ship under such extreme conditions.
01:25depth.
01:26Today, incredibly, he is a professional diver.
