00:00I'm so excited to get to talk to you about Camp Rock 3.
00:02It's now been almost a week since the movie premiered on Disney Channel.
00:06No, it's only been like three days. What do you mean?
00:08No, it's crazy.
00:10Obviously, we haven't even had any perception of time
00:12because this whole week has been such a whirlwind for all of us.
00:16Just all good stuff, I think.
00:18Yeah, I can second that.
00:20I feel so grateful.
00:22I feel like the amount of work that we all put in is so great.
00:25I'm just proud of everybody and so grateful.
00:27Yeah.
00:29That's awesome.
00:30And you guys got to perform some of the most iconic songs
00:33from the first two Camp Rock movies.
00:35Which song was your favorite to recreate?
00:38I think for me, I love recreating Start the Party.
00:41That was like fun, the dancing, the choreo.
00:43We were all together.
00:43We were all in that number one time and it just felt iconic.
00:48I think We Rock.
00:49I was going to say that too.
00:50We Rock was my favorite,
00:51especially also because it was with the Jonas Brothers.
00:54We got to perform it on stage for the final jam with them
00:57and that was really full circle.
00:59I would say we rocked too because it was just crazy
01:01because I think the day that we actually filmed that,
01:04later that night we got to go to an actual Jonas Brothers concert.
01:07So being able to perform on stage with them in a soundstage
01:10and then go and watch them in an arena
01:13and thousands of people was one of the most surreal moments of filming, I think.
01:16And two exciting cameos that fans only found out about
01:20just ahead of the movie being released
01:22were obviously Demi Lovato and Milo Manheim.
01:24How early on did you find out that they were going to appear in the movie
01:29and how difficult was it to keep this a secret?
01:31Milo Manheim went to the concert with us.
01:33Yeah, and that was like such a last minute thing.
01:35I think at the concert, like we saw him at the Jonas Brothers concert
01:38and I think like Gary Marsh, like the president of my life is.
01:42Yeah, I knew you were allowed to say that.
01:43Mr. President of Mr. Disney Channel, like, was like,
01:46hey, you should be in our movie.
01:48And he was like, hey, yeah.
01:50So that was cool.
01:51Demi we knew.
01:52Demi we knew.
01:53We've been knowing.
01:54We knew about Demi, but it was so hard to keep a secret.
01:57I swear our lips were so sealed.
01:59And I think like the fans started catching on
02:01literally like a few days before the movie came out
02:03and we were like, no, we've done so good.
02:05With the Demi cameo, Lea Mani,
02:08you got to share a special onscreen moment with her
02:10when Mitchie waves to Sage from the wings.
02:13He did it, he did it, he did it.
02:16He did it.
02:17He did it.
02:19Yeah.
02:20How surreal was that to shoot?
02:22That was so insane.
02:23I remember the day, oh, that day.
02:26Oh my gosh.
02:27I remember it like it was yesterday.
02:28I literally, the look that we share
02:30is such a special moment in the film
02:32and it kind of feels like she's passing the torch,
02:34which is so crazy to even say out loud,
02:36but I definitely look up to her so much.
02:38And so like to have that moment with her
02:40just means the entire world
02:42and I can't wait for like the fans to see it and stuff.
02:44So yeah.
02:45Awesome.
02:46And Lumi, hearing that you learned
02:48how to play the cello for this role was incredible.
02:51How long did it take for you to get down?
02:53Say goodbye to all my fears
02:56One good song, they disappear
02:59And nothing in the world can bring me down
03:03Well, we had about a month of prep
03:06before we actually were shooting.
03:08So I think literally day one,
03:10we started dance rehearsals,
03:12we started all of our musical lessons.
03:13So it was like day one of prep
03:15and I think it was about a month of lessons.
03:18Like at first, I think there were like two hours every day
03:21to like just get the basics down of like cello
03:23and try to get like,
03:25I feel like everybody who you see playing the cello
03:27has had like experience since they were five years old.
03:31And I think Rosie, my character,
03:33is the type of character
03:33to have had played the cello her entire life.
03:35So that was a lot of pressure stepping into that, I think.
03:38We need a camp rock album set to strings.
03:40Like each song, like a strings take on it.
03:44And Hudson, I have to tell you,
03:45I love the song Get Ready.
03:54And you're a musician outside of your on-screen work.
03:57Did you feel like you were infusing
03:58any of yourself into the role?
04:00Oh, for sure.
04:01I feel like Veronica Rodriguez, our director,
04:03helped do a great job of doing that
04:04and bringing me to the role of Desi.
04:06And I think as far as me bringing Hudson to the role,
04:11I'm a musician.
04:11I write my own music
04:12and I feel Desi is very much in that same vein.
04:15And Get Ready is a song.
04:16It's like him stepping into the spotlight.
04:18And that felt like a moment for me to do the same.
04:20I've never danced before Camp Rock,
04:22so that was also like a lot of my like personal arc meets up
04:25with Desi's in a way.
04:27So that's really cool.
04:28That's so cool.
04:29And Casey, I read how you started as a drummer
04:31and that has led you to so many roles
04:33that include both acting and drumming,
04:35which I think is so cool.
04:37Turn on the radio
04:39As loud as it can go
04:41Wanna dance until my feet can't feel the ground
04:45Do you have any other dream role that could combine the two?
04:49Ooh.
04:49Ooh.
04:50Any other dream role that could combine the two?
04:51Whiplash?
04:52Like a Whiplash would be super cool.
04:56Um, something band related.
04:58I feel like a lot of the time,
05:01like a lot of the focus really like isn't on the drummer
05:03because there's so much else in the band
05:05and I'd love to do something like really mainly drummer focused.
05:08That would be super cool.
05:09Is there another DCOM you would like to see revived
05:12after Camp Rock?
05:14High School Musical.
05:15Oh, wait.
05:18Okay, but that was a series.
05:19Oh, wait, wait, wait.
05:20Lemonade Mouth.
05:21Lemonade Mouth.
05:22Lemonade Mouth.
05:22Teen Beach movie.
05:24Teen Beach.
05:24I don't want to see that.
05:25Teen Beach movie.
05:25That's incredible.
05:26What else?
05:27What else is there?
05:27Live Action Frozen.
05:28I feel like they've done like dreams for everything.
05:31There's just a little...
05:32Live Action Frozen.
05:34Let's make a new one.
05:35Elsa.
05:36Let's make a new DCOM.
05:37Yeah, I'm down.
05:38Let's do that.
05:39We'll work on it.
05:40Don't worry.
05:41We're going to write the script.
05:42Yeah.
05:42I love it.
05:43And obviously I can't let you go
05:45without talking about the Jonas Brothers.
05:47Oh, yes.
05:48Of course.
05:49Hey, Nate.
05:49What's going on?
05:50Hey, Mark.
05:51Can you tell Shane that the suits are happening?
05:52He listens to you.
05:53Hang on.
05:54Hey, Shane.
05:56Can you tell Nate we're not dressing up as groomsmen?
05:57Hang on.
05:59Jason, please tell me this is not about wardrobe.
06:01No.
06:01Fantastic.
06:02Have you seen my child?
06:03What were the tips they gave you
06:04for stepping into the world of Camp Rock?
06:07Oh, they gave so much advice.
06:08Let me just put it that way.
06:09While we were on set,
06:10like every time they could,
06:12they were literally talking to us
06:14about all things
06:15because they've had these long careers
06:16and they were doing it since they were our age.
06:18So they had so much wisdom to share with us.
06:20I just found it incredible getting to talk to them.
06:22They're such great guys.
06:23I think for me,
06:25not even just the tips they gave us,
06:27but just being able to observe them on set
06:29and watch how they carry themselves professionally
06:32and just as like talented people.
06:35And also,
06:35I was just watching them
06:37and observing them
06:38stepping onto a set
06:39that kind of was like
06:40probably deja vu for them.
06:42And I think just learning to take everything in
06:44because 15 years ago,
06:46it was them right there,
06:47our age,
06:48doing all this.
06:49So I'm like,
06:49wow, imagine that's us in 15 years.
06:51I agree.
06:51I literally feel like
06:52they could have easily been so protective
06:55over the film
06:55because it's so,
06:56it's their baby, you know?
06:57So I feel like they easily
06:59could have been protective,
06:59but they really allowed us
07:00to be like our own people
07:01and our art,
07:02like be artists
07:03and be creative
07:03and do what we wanted to do
07:05and bring ourselves to the film.
07:06So it was really cool.
07:07is playing,
07:07I just want to be people
07:07talking to people.
07:08So,
