00:09The Air Force ATR-42 aircraft was carrying 25 passengers and seven crew members when
00:16it crashed while flying from Benin City to Lagos.
00:19President Bola Tinubu, confirming there were no survivors, expressed profound sadness and
00:26extended his condolences to the families of those killed.
00:29Tinubu also directed the Nigerian Air Force to immediately launch a thorough investigation
00:35into the cause of the crash with the aim of preventing similar incidents in the future.
00:41Aviation Minister Festus Kayamo said air traffic controllers lost contact with the aircraft
00:47at around 9.13am local time while it was on a routine mission.
00:52The wreckage was later located near the coastal town of Igbokoda where search and rescue teams
00:58were deployed.
