00:02imagine traveling across a state to play a sport you love without knowing where you will sleep
00:09that night no expensive academy no personal course no proper diet sometimes not even enough
00:17money for a trend ticket this is not a fictional sports movie this is the story of aslam inamdar
00:25aslam grew up in takilbhan village in maharashtra in a family where even basic needs were difficult
00:33to manage but he had one thing that money could not buy a deep love for kabaddi as a teenager
00:42aslam
00:43traveled from one tournament to another chasing opportunities that most people around him could
00:49barely imagine there were days when he had almost nothing to eat he collected discarded bottles to
00:57earn some money and when he traveled by train for tournaments he sometime traveled without a ticket
01:04if there was no proper place to sleep he slept under the train seats food was not always a proper
01:13meal
01:13either sometimes it was just a vada pow sometimes he had to survive on whatever food he could find
01:22but the strange thing is he kept coming back every tournament gave him another chance every difficult
01:31journey made him tougher and slowly people begin noticing the boy who refused to disappear his game
01:40improved his confidence grew and the same sport that once gave him nothing started giving him opportunities
01:49aslam eventually made his way into the indian kabaddi setup the boy who once traveled with almost nothing
01:57was now representing india and then came the asian games the pressure was enormous the stage was completely
02:07different but aslam had already played the biggest matches of his life long before to reach that arena
02:16his biggest opponent had never been another player it had been poverty it had been hunger it had been
02:23uncertainty it had been a question can i really make it and when he stepped on the mat wearing indian
02:32colors
02:33he was carrying every one of those battles with him today aslam imandar is an asian games gold medalist
02:41a champion who has won gold for india but perhaps the most powerful part of his story is not the
02:49medal
02:50it is the distance between where he started and where he stands today because sometimes the greatest
02:59athletes are not created in expensive academies they are created in difficult journeys in empty stomachs
03:07in sleepless nights and in the decision to keep going when nobody is watching this is the story
03:15of a boy who once slept under the train seats and eventually stood up on top of the asian sporting
03:24world
03:24this is aslam inamdar
