The central government has appointed Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit as the next Chief of Air Staff of the Indian Air Force. Currently serving as the Vice Chief of Air Staff, he will formally take charge on 31 October, succeeding Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh upon his superannuation. Air Marshal Dixit's tenure will extend until 31 December 2028 as the 29th chief of the force. A seasoned experimental test pilot with over 3,500 hours of flying experience across aircraft such as Mirage 2000, MiG variants, Kiran, and Jaguars, his appointment coincides with the Indian Air Force marking its 94th anniversary.
