I hit 1 million subscribers on a Roblox channel in under a year, and the road there was anything but smooth. After years on Minecraft, I took a risk, switched niches, and started over with a game I had barely played before, learning how to build a new audience from scratch.
The story covers the slow start, the sudden growth from Shorts, the months of losing momentum, and the decision to change content strategy, upload more, and keep pushing even when it felt impossible. It is part gaming commentary, part creator journey, and part honest storytime about what it takes to grow on YouTube, adapt to trends, and stay motivated when numbers go down.
Created for fans of gaming storytime, YouTube growth stories, Roblox commentary, and creator advice, this video also fits searches for channel milestone stories, Shorts strategy, and how to get subscribers on YouTube. It is a real behind-the-scenes look at building a Roblox channel, switching from Minecraft, and chasing a gold play button through hard work and persistence.

00:00I just hit 1 million subscribers but not how you might think because if you scroll down on my
00:05channel right now you will see like well it's not even close I mean we got some progress but
00:09the reason is it's a different channel so this is gonna be the story of how I achieved 1 million
00:14subscribers for my roblox channel and I did it in under one year so here's the basic story if you
00:20guys didn't know I have been doing a bunch of different channels now right uh the reasoning
00:24for this is well mainly money you know it's really hard to get a livable income unless you're really
00:29locked in on something and I'd prefer to just have my income spread out across multiple channels
00:33right that is a lot easier my opinion oh and also the main reason is that I've been doing Minecraft
00:39for like five years I think before I switched and you know at that point it's on status like you
00:44gotta try something new so I first got the idea to switch to roblox for minecraft for my friend
00:50age of the bold this was around like august last year so it hasn't even been a year yet and
00:55it's
00:55when roblox was kind of popping off like getting really popular and my friend was telling me like
01:00yo minecraft you have to rely on the game to come out with new updates or you have to just
01:05be really
01:06creative to get good ideas and I'm gonna get cooked hold up oof guys I haven't opened minecraft in like
01:12two weeks by the way so we're gonna get cooked but basically I was like okay yeah let's let's try
01:16this roblox thing it was kind of a big risk for me if you think about it because I have
01:20never played
01:21roblox until the last year so why would I switch from minecraft the game I already have built an
01:26audience on for the last five years and just start brand new well I decided to take the risk and
01:32I'm
01:32so glad I did because I gained so much knowledge of how to actually make content and like expand my
01:37reach beyond just one niche because now because I tried out roblox I started trying out other niches
01:42because I was like okay I can just start new channels I have the knowledge that it takes to get
01:46views
01:47why not just branch out from this one game minecraft so that's what I've been doing I cover a bunch
01:51of
01:52different games now if you guys know the channels you know anyways I started doing roblox august of
01:56last year it's been like 10 months at this point at first it started really slow like I think it
02:01took
02:01me two weeks to get 1000 subscribers or something because I had no idea what I was doing what was
02:07popular in the roblox niche and yeah oh my gosh half a heart let's go basically the start was the
02:11slowest part and I agree like it's the hardest part when you start anything even with this channel
02:16like it took me literally a few years to get a thousand subs because I was new to it and
02:21I'm
02:21sure y'all can relate to that but after having doing this for years and kind of gaining knowledge
02:25it starts to ramp up and by the second month of doing roblox channel I gained 10,000 subs and
02:31I
02:31think I got to 50k in one month which for me you know doing minecraft this channel only has like
02:37300k
02:38but like this account it doesn't have the most in the world but it has a decent amount but the
02:42thing is
02:42it took me five years to even get to 300k and I only started shorts recently so most of that
02:48was
02:48long form which in case you don't know is a lot slower to get views and subscribers compared to
02:53shorts so I would say a big help in getting to a million subscribers was crying out shorts if you're
02:59not doing shorts well it's gonna take you a lot longer if you're doing just long form and again
03:02with shorts I was just taking a risk because I actually hated doing shorts at first when I started
03:07on this channel I had no idea what I was doing I was like this sucks I'm gonna get no
03:11views
03:11which I didn't get any views at the start but I stuck with it because I knew it had potential
03:15and boom turns out it did we're gonna try to lock in here I have not played mace in a
03:20minute and it's
03:20kind of a hard game mode for me guys I'm not gonna lie but yeah I basically was like maybe
03:2550 to 100k
03:26subs in the first month which is insane I was like oh my gosh this has potential I could probably
03:31hit a
03:32million in a few months if I stick with this but even though it was fast progress at the start
03:36the
03:36first few months of roblox uh it didn't stay that way I had a lot of challenges that actually
03:41had to face to get to a million and there was a lot of days and months actually where I
03:45just kind
03:46of wanted to give up and not make it because I didn't think it was gonna be worth it or
03:49possible
03:49whatever so I'll show kind of a graph right now of the progress of you know getting to a million
03:54subscribers you'll notice like the start was pretty good the first month obviously took some time
03:59but by month two to four like it was really fast like we gained like 500k subs in like a
04:05few months
04:06I was like oh my gosh this is insane but then I lost momentum which can happen to any niche
04:11it
04:12happens to literally every youtuber ever so you kind of have to learn how to pivot and adjust to
04:17the new either algorithm or new trends maybe the game's dying and that's what was happening for me
04:21like the game I was playing roblox was kind of dying but roblox was dying in general so I was
04:25like
04:26how am I gonna get to a million I'm only halfway there and I was stuck like for literally two
04:31or three
04:31months I lost subscribers which I don't even talk about much because you just try to focus on the
04:37good things but I was literally like going down in subs for three months you know how that feels
04:41that is like one of the worst feelings at 800,000 subscribers I was like 80% of the way
04:46to my goal
04:46of my childhood dream and then I was just falling out of it that was the hardest stage of it
04:51honestly
04:51oh my gosh please let me pop totem bro he was at half a heart okay it's fine it's fine
04:57but I would say
04:58800k subs was arguably harder than the start because it really tested my patience and just
05:03ability to keep going I really wanted to give up for a while and by the way guys something to
05:08keep
05:08in mind while I was running this channel I was still running this channel as well as like 10 other
05:12channels at the same time mostly by myself because I didn't hire people yet so if I full focused on
05:18that channel roblox well I probably could have made it by now to you know a million but I did
05:23want to
05:24branch out not be as risky and just stick to one niche one game because if the game dies while
05:29you're cooked but the thing that kept me going and I maybe not want to give up it's just this
05:33feeling
05:33of need to prove myself and just prove everybody like I can do crazy stuff even though it looks
05:39impossible and also several other youtubers around me were still getting views somehow getting millions
05:44of subscribers while I wasn't so something I was doing was wrong something they were doing was
05:49right and I had to learn so what did I do I changed my whole constant strategy I tried out
05:54new videos
05:54new call to actions if you're curious about the call to actions I use or what that even means check
05:59out the video on screen I'll put it in the top right actually if you're curious about that because
06:03I explained exactly what I did but I basically changed out the type of videos I was making to some
06:08new ones that were better giving people more reason to subscribe and just making the videos overall
06:12better so I can get more views and more subscribers in general and this is something 90% of youtubers
06:17you
06:17know don't really learn early enough how to pivot and make new types of content instead of just using
06:23the same trends they you know have been using it's working and I think it's good to repeat formats and
06:28video ideas that are working well for you but eventually they don't work anymore so you have to
06:32start experimenting with new ideas before you already lose momentum and that's why I like to
06:37experiment with new stuff while also posting stuff that is working at the same time I like how this
06:41one mace game is lasting the entire video because that is that is mace in a nutshell and also I'm
06:46gonna play crystal next because that is way more fun for me but anyways I started to get my momentum
06:50back after I changed up my content strategy right and this was I guess a month ago yeah started getting
06:56the views back and I started uploading a lot more like I was doing one upload per day sometimes
07:00skipping uploads because I was just unmotivated slightly from the loss of momentum and my subscribers
07:05going down but then I was like you know what let's just lock in I'm gonna get a million subscribers
07:09before VidCon which was a week ago and I had probably a month when I started first saying that to
07:15do it
07:15and I was over 100k subs away so it was a kind of a big goal but also achievable and
07:20I was just like
07:20all right we gotta do this right now before VidCon it'll be hype if I hit it at VidCon which
07:25I did by the
07:25way VidCon video coming out soon so stay tuned for that one and I was doing three uploads a day
07:30I was
07:31recording um like nine shorts a day because I had the backlog I didn't have time to you know record
07:37it
07:37at the con so I had to get videos before I left my house so I was literally recording it
07:41all day
07:41every day on that channel and that is actually what allowed me to get to the next level and start
07:45seeing momentum again I just had to upload more really oh my gosh my helmet just broke yeah it's
07:50cooked dude his helmet's probably not even close to breaking right now this is oh my gosh yep it's
07:54cooked I'm dead all right well okay we're gonna do one more because I think the story's almost over
07:59but yeah at VidCon this was a week ago I was gaining like 10k subs a day at some point
08:05because
08:05the videos were just doing really well it was like perfect I was like okay finally I'm gonna hit a
08:09and I hit it almost in front of everybody but I couldn't stay awake long enough because it was
08:144am so I hit it in my sleep so you know that could have been more hype but we still
08:18hit it so I was
08:19super grateful and it was literally right before I went to the VidCon so I was just like all day
08:23at
08:23the con like happy I finally hit this childhood dream of mine oh my gosh yo it's gonna be hard
08:29bro
08:29I haven't played Crystal in a minute I have to do it while I'm talking nah okay let's just try
08:34to win
08:34this last game I guess uh-oh but yeah I hit a million subscribers on Roblox channel like 10
08:40months after starting it because I just believed in myself and I worked super hard for like months
08:45on end okay nah I just died but yeah the number one thing that actually helped me achieve this was
08:50just believing myself even though times were slow I was literally losing multiple thousand subs some
08:55months that didn't matter I knew I had to keep pushing forward and well we did it so gold play
09:00button coming soon that is the story of how I hit 1 million subscribers on my Roblox channel
09:04hopefully we can do that on this channel one day too that would be cool because this is my
09:07original channel but yeah I hope you guys enjoyed the story and subscribe
