Noah Kahan takes Billboard out to Highland Park Bowl in Los Angeles for pool, drinks and real talk.In this Takes Us Out episode, Noah Kahan opens up about touring stadiums, songwriting, and protecting his privacy.

Noah talks about his favorite ways to unwind on the road (golf, pickup basketball, batting cages), why it’s important to carve out non-music time to manage anxiety, and what he’s most proud of on The Great Divide. He breaks down how a song changes from writing → recording → performing, shares his funniest crowd moments (yes, “Dashboard”), and gets candid about setting boundaries—especially after writing about family on Stick Season. Plus: “Line ’Em Up” gets chaotic fast, from an unforgettable house party story to ranking his albums and a rapid-fire round over beers and pizza at Highland Park Bowl.

00:01Oh, let's place a pool.
00:02Yeah, this feels like .
00:03Okay, cool.
00:05Let's do it.
00:12Hey, good to see you. How are you?
00:13Good to see you.
00:15Long time no see.
00:16I know, it's been a little minute.
00:17I think the last time was south by.
00:19Yeah.
00:19And you've been doing a lot since then.
00:21Yup.
00:21But I'm ready to place a pool.
00:23I'm ready to place a pool.
00:23Have a drink. It'll be great.
00:25I have to let you know, I'm very, very bad.
00:27Oh, me too.
00:28Okay.
00:28We're going to be horrible.
00:29People are not going to want to watch this.
00:30Okay, great.
00:31Can't wait.
00:32The longest game of pool starts right now.
00:33Right now, yeah.
00:34It's going to be tough to watch.
00:35Let's go ahead and head on in.
00:37We'll have to make a mini-series.
00:43So we are here at Highland Park Bowl.
00:45I love the bowl, and I heard that it was an old medicinal whiskey dispensary.
00:51Like, they would give you, back in the day when they were just like,
00:53yeah, just have a shot of whiskey and rub some dirt on it.
00:55So, pretty cool.
00:57Old school.
00:57Don't do that now, obviously.
00:59Take medicine.
01:00The medicine of bowling.
01:01The healing powers of bowling and pool.
01:03That's so, wow.
01:04Thank you, Highland Park Bowl.
01:05Yeah, thanks guys.
01:06I'll circle you.
01:12So, I mean, you just finished the North American leg of the tour.
01:16What typically are your favorite pastimes while you're on the road?
01:19If you have time.
01:20Oh, yeah.
01:21If I have any time, I like to go play golf because I can get outside and get kind of
01:25away from the venue.
01:27It's always, we're always like in downtown and like to be out, like in nature.
01:31I don't play a lot of pickup basketball.
01:33We'll go to like a park and just find some people that want to play some hoops.
01:36Yeah, we do a lot of that.
01:38Since we've been at baseball stadiums, we've been doing batting cages, which has been pretty fun.
01:41And I never got to play baseball.
01:43I played t-ball.
01:44Right.
01:44And then I was, when I played baseball, I was pitcher's helper.
01:46So, I didn't let me play.
01:47I literally had to tie the pitcher's shoes and stuff.
01:50So, it was nice to be able to get a chance to feel like I was a superstar.
01:54Pitcher's helper.
01:55I've actually never seen that on a stat sheet.
01:57So, what is that?
01:58Yeah.
01:58I was a Hall of Famer pitcher's helper.
02:00Were you the first and the last?
02:01Because I've literally never heard of it.
02:02I think it was like one of those things where like, yeah, yeah.
02:05Handing the ball and stuff.
02:07Yeah, like playing the dirt.
02:08Yeah, it was bad.
02:09I was on the brown team, green team, like that.
02:12Dang.
02:12Yeah, so.
02:13But look at you now.
02:14Playing.
02:15And now I'm here.
02:17Playing those same stadiums.
02:17Playing those same stadiums.
02:18Still bad at baseball.
02:19Yeah.
02:19But you know, it's been really cool to get a chance to like, see the behind the scenes
02:23of all the stadiums and stuff.
02:24Yeah, how important is it for you on the road to get that time to do something that's
02:29not just about music or performing?
02:31How important is that for you?
02:33Yeah, really important.
02:34I think like, there's so much downtime and you can just spend that time like, thinking
02:36about the show and like, watching the stage get built.
02:39And like, I feel like it just builds up so much like, anxiety in me.
02:41So, I try to like, be really structured and like, make sure at least five hours of the day,
02:46I'm doing something like, that's not music related.
02:48And then I kind of can walk in and feel like now I can think about it.
02:51Um, cause I used to just think about it all day long.
02:53And like then by the time the show came, you're like so in your head.
02:56So, I think it's really important.
02:57We have a game called Line Em Up, okay?
02:59Okay.
03:00So, it's five questions, five shots.
03:02If you are brave enough to answer the question, then I have to take the shot.
03:06Oh, okay.
03:07And if you're not brave enough to answer the question, then you have to take the shot.
03:11Oh my gosh.
03:11Yeah.
03:12Okay.
03:12So, my first question for you, or my first ask, is I'd love for you to share your most embarrassing
03:18house party story.
03:20Embarrassing house party story.
03:22Um, wow, there are so many.
03:25Um, oh, on New Year's Eve, I went to take a shit and I clogged a stick's toilet.
03:29And, uh, she, and like people were like, it was like a movie.
03:33They're like, let us in.
03:34Like, we have to go.
03:34And I literally was like, I just walked out, like scurried by everybody and just left the
03:38party.
03:38It was also my birthday.
03:39So, I just left and walked home back to my house.
03:43And I'm sure they all found out, but like, yeah, I couldn't face it.
03:46I mean, it's your party.
03:48You'll shit if you want to.
03:49Yeah, it's my party and I'll shit if I want to.
03:51Do you know what I mean?
03:51Um, it's funny because as I was like making these questions, I was like, wouldn't it be
03:55crazy if you like clogged a toilet?
03:57Yes.
03:57And that's exactly what you did.
03:59I mean, it was, I didn't know what a plunger did until like two years ago.
04:03I was like, what the fuck?
04:04I was like, what do I stick to?
04:05Like, I was like, what do I do with this thing?
04:06What is this stick?
04:07And what is this thing?
04:08Yeah, I was like taking, I was picking up like the tank part of it and pretending to like,
04:12oh, you just gotta mix the, you just gotta press this lever.
04:14Yeah, it was bad.
04:15But, yeah.
04:16Damn, shit happens.
04:17I mean, I think that's, that means you have to drink.
04:20Okay, let's see.
04:22I'm just blessing it, you know?
04:24Yeah, I just, no.
04:26Yeah, good luck.
04:31Oh, let's play some bull.
04:33Yeah, this feels like fucked up.
04:34Okay, cool.
04:35Let's do it.
04:41All right, break.
04:42Break.
04:43You have to do this.
04:43Because you can't.
04:44Hey.
04:45That wasn't bad.
04:45That was pretty good.
04:46I mean, that's a big giant stack of balls.
04:49Yeah, but we'll work on that.
04:50That's okay.
04:50All right, now you're up.
04:51You said you can't?
04:52That felt sinister.
04:54That was.
04:54You said you can't.
04:55Well, I can do anything I put my mind to.
04:57Right, right.
04:58Well, I would, well, let me hit this first.
05:00Into that pocket.
05:01Let's see how bad you are.
05:02I've been hustled, I've seen that episode of Drake and Josh.
05:04Right.
05:05Um, God.
05:08All right, that's fine.
05:08No way!
05:09Oh, wow.
05:10Oh, my God.
05:11That would have been crazy.
05:13You almost for real.
05:14You cannot.
05:15I know enough.
05:16I feel like you did that when that break.
05:17Yeah.
05:17You did that.
05:18That's my classic strategy.
05:20That was strategy.
05:21Well.
05:21Okay, so we just really can't go anywhere over there now.
05:24No, that is not our pocket.
05:25Neither of us want this game to end this quickly.
05:27That is not our bag.
05:28That is not our bag.
05:28I'm really scared of hitting that now.
05:31Okay, I think I can hit.
05:32I'm sorry, guys.
05:33We can move it.
05:35No, I think that's like that would be good.
05:36People on, pool people online would be like, you can't do that.
05:38You're right, you're right, you're right, you're right.
05:39Okay.
05:40The pool, pool Twitter will fucking destroy us.
05:42I cannot be on their bad side.
05:44No.
05:45Pool Twitter is not, is not a friendly group of people.
05:48All right.
05:4814, green, left pocket, bang.
05:51Aw.
05:52I've earned my, I've finished the season of the Sticks.
05:56I hope you're very rich.
05:59I hope you're scared of all the ordinary shit.
06:04Sticks season to The Great Divide.
06:06Yeah.
06:07What are you most proud of with that album?
06:11Of The Great Divide?
06:13I'm just really proud of the process.
06:15I feel like I made it in a way that felt really authentic to like what I love about being
06:19creative.
06:19And like I made it with my friends and I made it like with all these people who I really
06:23admire.
06:24And just like the whole process was really like wholesome.
06:26Like I feel like I got way closer to the people I worked with.
06:28And then also a lot closer to like my own creativity.
06:30So didn't feel like it was painful, but it was like really rewarding.
06:34So I loved it.
06:35There was one, one of my favorite lyrics is like, call me when the bugs don't die.
06:40Yeah.
06:41And spring feels like autumn.
06:42And I love that visual.
06:45Like I had to immediately run back.
06:46I was like, wait.
06:47Yeah.
06:48He snapped with that.
06:49That's kind of about like being in California or like being somewhere where it's like always warm.
06:53Yeah.
06:53And I'm always like, man, like something about being cold, like it makes you feel like you've earned the warmth
06:58when it does come.
06:59Like so summer is such like a valuable time for me.
07:01And I've always been like, what would it be like to have it always be nice out?
07:04You know?
07:04So probably pretty nice.
07:06What season would you say you're in right now of your life?
07:08Oh, my life?
07:09Um, I'm in season six when like a lot of the good writers have gone and it's kind of like
07:14the original people that are just like trying to cover cost at home.
07:16Right.
07:17Right.
07:18We have one good franchise actor who like kind of wants to leave to go do movies.
07:22But the I'm here for the supporting cast like really needs this.
07:27Yeah.
07:27Yeah.
07:27I would say season of life.
07:30Um, I recently had an astrology, I did an astrology reading.
07:34Really?
07:35Yeah.
07:35My wife and I did it for her anniversary, her anniversary, our wedding anniversary.
07:39Um, and it was really cool.
07:41And he told me all sorts of different things about like Saturn returns and all that.
07:45So apparently I'm done with my Saturn, my Saturn's back.
07:48Wow.
07:49Hell yeah.
07:49You got that back.
07:50Yeah.
07:50And apparently like it was so now I'm like the season of life or like something about Aquarius.
07:57I don't actually know.
07:57Right.
07:58Something good is happening.
07:58Everyone's like, you are such a Capricorn.
08:00I'm like, I have no idea what that means.
08:01But like the guy, when the guy explains, I'm like, oh yeah, I am like that.
08:05Well, you're quite exceptional.
08:06Oh.
08:06I think I would say that.
08:08I mean, I.
08:09Not at this.
08:09Yeah.
08:10I mean, no.
08:10This excluded.
08:11This excluded.
08:13We saw that break.
08:14But, um, yeah, no, as Capricorns, you have a very high standard and a very strong value
08:19set.
08:20Yeah.
08:20I would say that's true.
08:21Yeah.
08:22I think that's, I love that you got affirmed in your reading.
08:25It was cool.
08:25And so I guess that, I'm in the season of life where I'm like, I'm feeling very, um,
08:31content with like where I'm at and like how things are.
08:34I feel like for the first time in my life, I felt very like deserving of, um, having some
08:39personal joy and pride and not feeling like it's like a curse or means something else
08:43is gonna happen bad in a second.
08:45Yeah.
08:45Yeah.
08:45You started 2018, 248 tickets was your first reported show.
08:50Mm-hmm.
08:51I think we did 30, I think we did 77 tickets in London, uh, in 2017.
08:56Yeah.
08:56My first like touring.
08:57Yeah.
08:57Yeah.
08:58So from 77 to 248 to now massive stadiums.
09:04Mm-hmm.
09:04How has that experience been for you?
09:12It's still scary, but I feel like it's not, it's like the nerves are more for the excitement
09:18and like the, the moment than it is for like the grand scheme of my career.
09:22Like I feel like during stick season, I was like, Oh, what if I'm never back in the state?
09:25Like the first thing I think about is like, I'll never be back here.
09:27Like, Oh my God.
09:28Or like, I'll never follow this up.
09:29And now I'm like, man, I really worked really hard to make this happen.
09:32And these fans are amazing.
09:33Like I'm, I want to make sure they have a good time.
09:35And I'm like so concerned about their like experience the show.
09:38But like, I know we're all supposed to be there.
09:40So, um, and that I feel like I earned some of it sometimes, not all the time,
09:44but I, I feel like more does everybody of it, which is really cool.
09:46That's a really special.
09:47That's a cool feeling.
09:48Yeah.
09:49Let's get back into the game.
09:51All right.
09:52Oh.
09:53Um, let's do another round of line them up.
09:56Okay, cool.
09:57Let's do it.
09:57I want to know about a collaboration of yours that will never see the light of day and why.
10:03Okay.
10:04Um, this feels like the light of day coming to shine itself upon this unsaid collaboration.
10:11But, uh, okay.
10:12Um, I think I'll take a shot.
10:15I don't really want to answer.
10:16I don't have any, I don't have any unseen collaboration.
10:19Oh really?
10:19You don't have anything in the vault?
10:20Not really.
10:21Like stick season, the deluxe town hall thing was like so cool, but because I didn't get
10:26to spend enough time like in the rooms with some of those artists, I really want my next
10:30collaboration to be like fully like collaborative and really be there and like come up with a
10:34song and be a part of the story and the marketing.
10:36Like I love working with Kelsey Ballerini because she's all just not just an amazing person.
10:41But also like we were there in the room talking about the song.
10:43Um, and I was so grateful for like Lizzy and Hozier and all these amazing artists that jumped on my
10:47tracks.
10:47But it was hard because I was on the road.
10:48And so we didn't really get to be in there together.
10:50Um, so I think for the next collaboration I do, I want it to be like, you know, I want
10:55us both to be there in the room making the song.
10:56I think it could kind of like create a really cool creative partnership.
10:59Yeah.
10:59But since that's like kind of a cop out answer, I'll take a shot.
11:03And because you didn't, I feel like it's not fair to make you drink alone.
11:06Don't make me drink alone.
11:07And I'm going to have choco over this piece of lime.
11:09Lime second, lime first.
11:10No, it's seasoning.
11:11Yeah.
11:12Oh yeah.
11:13Do you ever fuck with tahine?
11:15Oh, do I?
11:16I love that shit.
11:17Put it on a rim.
11:18Hello.
11:18Oh, yeah.
11:19Cool.
11:21Okay.
11:22First time ever having a liquid.
11:26Down the hatch.
11:27As they say.
11:33Mm-hmm.
11:34So good, dude.
11:36Mm-hmm.
11:36I love that feeling of like when it hits your lips and your problems start going away.
11:39Yeah, it's melting.
11:40Yeah, yeah.
11:41That's what was happening to me earlier.
11:42Yeah, it's so good.
11:43Glad we're on the same page.
11:44Yeah, okay.
11:45So I want to talk about something.
11:48You mentioned about the songwriting process.
11:51And I see it on your face.
11:52Sorry, I'm working through that shot right now.
11:53It's hitting my lower esophagus.
11:56Oops.
11:56We are in the gallbladder now.
11:58Fun.
11:59The intestines.
12:00Yes.
12:00Oh, not my butt.
12:02Is the liver doing?
12:03Did you just bypass that whole?
12:04I just felt the whole thing go.
12:05It's like operation.
12:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
12:08Got you.
12:08It's getting zapped by this tequila.
12:09Sorry.
12:10Noted.
12:11But back to songwriting.
12:12Speaking of, I find it really interesting how you can take such personal moments and
12:18then to what we were just talking about earlier, perform in front of thousands and thousands
12:23of people.
12:24How does the song change for you from the process of making and creating it, to recording it,
12:30then to performing it?
12:31How do you relate to it?
12:38Yeah, that's a great question.
12:39I think like when I'm writing it, I'm really feeling it pretty intimately.
12:42The experience, the emotion of my own experience.
12:45And then recording it, it's like the emotional side of the recording process, which is like,
12:50how do we take the song I made and make it sound as emotional as it feels to me?
12:54And that's where I really rely on amazing producers like Gabe Simon and Aaron Desner,
12:58who recorded this record with me and produced it with me, of like listening to how they
13:02hear the song and like getting out of my own way a little bit and being like, well,
13:06this is a piece of art that a lot of people are going to hear.
13:08And ultimately, I need to be open to other people's opinions on it.
13:11And so having people you trust that are like, here's what this means to me.
13:13Here's this production element I'd put in, whether that's like reverb or using a rubber
13:17bridge versus an electric guitar or cutting on a certain mic, like they know the
13:22intricacies of that world so well.
13:23And then performing it, like I really do feel like I'm still experiencing the emotion of
13:29the song, but you're also watching people interpret it in their own way, which is really cool.
13:32Whether that's on like TikTok or at the show and the crowd, getting to watch people kind
13:38of like have their own experience of the song, sing it out loud, knowing it means something
13:42totally different to them than it does to me is like the beauty of music.
13:45Like it lives forever in that way because people are constantly evolving their experience.
13:50And that's really fun for me because even if I play it a million times, it's different
13:54every night because I'm watching somebody experiencing it differently.
13:56What is your favorite lyric to perform because of that catharsis?
14:01Oh, yeah.
14:01And then what is your favorite lyric to see other people perform back to you?
14:05I love, everyone gets really excited during Dashboard when I yell douche.
14:08Everyone gets really pumped.
14:09That one's really fun.
14:10That makes a lot of sense.
14:11Everyone gets really excited to say that.
14:13And it's like, you know what's funny is I have tons of swears in my songs, but that's like
14:15just a weird one to have in there and they really like that.
14:18Let's bring it back, actually.
14:19Douche is a good one, yeah.
14:21Douche canoe, douche nozzle, douche bag, douche lord, douchey.
14:25Douche nozzle?
14:25Douche nozzle, yeah.
14:27Never heard that.
14:27Douche canoe.
14:28Oh, I've said that one already.
14:29I guess you could do kayak or whatever.
14:31Rowboat.
14:31Whatever boat.
14:32Douche yacht.
14:34Douche yacht.
14:34Yeah, all yachts are douchey.
14:40I think my favorite lyric is probably that one and then, you're here and we're so grateful
14:43you are from American Cars.
14:47It's the first song of the show and like, I don't know, to me like, that song's not necessarily
14:52about performing live, but it takes on a different meaning when you're playing the first song
14:55to a bunch of people who have waited a long time for the show and everyone's like, we're
14:57all here.
14:58Yeah.
14:58That one's really fun.
14:59It's like, yes, it started.
15:00Yeah, totally.
15:01We're in the Noah Khan experience.
15:02We are in, yeah, we're in this Noah Khan show now.
15:06Yeah.
15:06I think it's interesting with as much you are available to your fans when you're performing,
15:11you also keep a lot of yourself private.
15:13Like, how do you balance that privacy with the public persona and why is it important
15:20for you to maintain that bit of yourself that's only for Noah and the people that know him
15:25intimately?
15:26Great question.
15:26I think it's really important for me to make sure that there's separation in my life
15:30between my job and my life, you know?
15:32Like, I think that's not to say that you should like, hide and I'm always trying to
15:36be open about my feelings and honest about my experience, but there's some things that
15:39you just like to have to yourself, I guess, like experiences and feelings.
15:43And then really it's all about what other people are comfortable with in my life.
15:46You know, I have a lot of loved ones that for whatever reason or reasons of their own,
15:53like, want a certain level of privacy in their lives.
15:55And it's really important to respect that.
15:57I think you can talk about family and love and your life and your town without like adulterating
16:02people's experiences.
16:04And I learned that lesson when I made Stixies and like people were, I wrote about my parents
16:08and I didn't feel like I gave them a fair chance to say no, you know?
16:13Yeah.
16:13Cause I was like, man, I would write about this cause it sucks, you know?
16:16And on this last record, I was really intentional about being like, how do you want to be, like,
16:21how much can I share?
16:23Can I share anything?
16:24How do you want to be told about it before?
16:27And having that kind of dialogue was really, really cool.
16:30And like, obviously the only fair thing to do.
16:32So, um, yeah, I really, I really value my privacy and I value openness and honesty at
16:37the same time.
16:37And it's, it's sometimes hard to find a balance, but it's a work in progress.
16:40Yeah.
16:41It's interesting.
16:41You said this earlier, but it's out there, you create this art and it resonates with
16:46people for different reasons and in different ways.
16:49And so there is a responsibility that you have to the people that you love and care about
16:54to write about them in a way because stick season is stick season forever.
16:59That's forever.
17:00Yeah.
17:01Um, yeah, that's, that's totally right.
17:03Like that music lives on beyond how long you want it to be out in the world or like
17:07your enjoyment of it or your experience in it.
17:11Like you can move forward from those experiences that people are always going to be discovering
17:14those songs.
17:14So knowing that now it's like really important to me to make sure I find that separation,
17:18find that line and just like take all my notes from the people that are kind of like
17:22the ones that have the privacy they want to maintain.
17:24Okay.
17:25Well, since this game is done, um, I think it's time to eat a little food.
17:28Let's do it.
17:29We've earned it.
17:30We sure have.
17:31We really have.
17:32There's only 12 balls on the table.
17:33Still left.
17:34So we basically won.
17:40Cheers.
17:41Cheers.
17:41Thank you for the beer.
17:42And for the fun game.
17:43Oh, we got different beers.
17:45Do we?
17:45Let's see which one it is.
17:48I love it.
17:49It's exactly what I wanted.
17:50Hey, it's an IPA.
17:51Okay, perfect.
17:52Hazy IPA.
17:53It's hazy.
17:53It's hazy.
17:54I can just see it.
17:55I love like a juicy hazy.
17:56I look like a human embodiment of an IPA.
17:58You do.
17:59I look like I grow IPAs every morning.
18:02That's actually so true.
18:03Yeah.
18:03Maybe we should do that.
18:04So this is actually what I wanted to ask you.
18:05Okay.
18:05All right.
18:05So say the world ends, we all have to go back to like really communal living.
18:11Sure.
18:11What would be your job?
18:13What would be your role?
18:15I think about this all the fucking time.
18:17Good.
18:17I'm glad.
18:17I knew you would.
18:17Oh, I want to swear.
18:18Yeah.
18:19Okay, so I'm swearing a ton.
18:20A ton.
18:21Crap ton.
18:22I think about this all the time.
18:24And my buddies and I are always thinking about if the world was ending.
18:26And are we doing, let's think about it though, because this informs the question.
18:30Right.
18:31Is it zombies?
18:32Is it a plague?
18:33Is it an ENRPG or whatever, like when the electromagnetic field goes down?
18:39I would say that it's zombies.
18:43Nice.
18:43And we are so remote in order to save the press.
18:47But we are the last ones left.
18:49We have to keep the human race alive.
18:52And so our lives really actually do depend on it.
18:55But we're so remote, like we're not afraid of the zombies.
18:57Like we've been about this for like 10 years.
18:58Right, right.
18:59We understand how to exist in that world, but it sucks though, obviously.
19:03Okay, I'm pretty much fucked.
19:05I think I'm either a jester or like one of those guys who sits on the top of the roof
19:10in Mad Max.
19:10I can't even play the guitar that well.
19:13If they're looking for like a, if like the zombies respond well.
19:17I mean, play a little bit of, play some songs and covers maybe.
19:21Right.
19:22I definitely would have to make myself very useful like in doing like menial tasks.
19:26Like, because singer-songwriter is not very useful in the pandemic, you know what I mean?
19:32Right.
19:32Well, I mean people want to hear music and shit, but there's like so many hundreds of them.
19:36Like there's no way I'd make the cut.
19:37Yeah.
19:37I'd probably be a jester.
19:38A jester with a guitar.
19:40There's a great story about a jester.
19:42And I guess some old king was like, the jester like insulted him or something.
19:46And the old king says, I like you, so I'm going to let you choose how you die.
19:50And he said, of old age.
19:51And the king let him live.
19:53Period.
19:53So that really inspired me.
19:55He's like the Michael Jordan of jester.
19:56So if I could be anything close to him.
19:58I mean, that's pretty good actually.
19:59I'd be like the bam out of bio of jester.
20:01Just a very serviceable jester.
20:03He gets the job done.
20:04Yeah, yeah.
20:04You know what I mean?
20:05I'm not going to do anything crazy.
20:06You know, the jokes are fine.
20:12We have discourse.
20:14We do.
20:14Okay.
20:14We have discourse here.
20:15There's history here.
20:16There is history.
20:17But when the food comes, we like to do a rapid fire round of questions.
20:21So while you're eating, you can answer these.
20:23Okay.
20:23Dream collaboration.
20:26There are a few artists, but I think like just being such a huge fan of Phoebe Bridgers,
20:31I would love an opportunity to make music with her or even just to watch her play live.
20:35I just think she's amazing.
20:36I think her new album is awesome and like so moving.
20:39And I'm really inspired by her songwriting.
20:41So I'd be really, really pleased to get a chance to work with Phoebe someday.
20:44If it's fun.
20:45She heard it.
20:46Hell yeah.
20:47What is your guilty pleasure?
20:50Literally every one of my pleasures is guilty.
20:52Let's go ahead and go down the list.
20:54What's my innocent pleasure?
20:56The sun.
20:57Better question.
20:59Guilty pleasures.
21:00Guilty pleasures.
21:01I'm just so good for a raw day.
21:03Yeah.
21:04Just wake up and just, I'm like, I'm not fucking leaving.
21:07I'm not leaving.
21:08I'm not leaving.
21:09Like just sit there and just order Uber Eats two or three times.
21:13Oh.
21:13Smoke a ton of weed.
21:15Watch some YouTube top 10 crowd pops NBA compilation.
21:20Look at the comments.
21:21Dislike some comments.
21:23Just spend all day in bed.
21:25Just, oh, it's the best, dude.
21:26Watch this get light then, or dark then light then dark again.
21:31Ignore a bunch of texts.
21:32Yeah.
21:33Just do it.
21:33It's the best.
21:34It's the best feeling.
21:35You feel horrible around like five, six PM.
21:38But once it gets dark again, unbelievable.
21:41It's like you never left.
21:42It really does get horrible.
21:44At that stretch.
21:44Three to six is tough.
21:46It's tough.
21:46The sun's like, come on.
21:47Oh my God, come on.
21:48Get out of bed.
21:49And you're like, no, no, no, no.
21:50No, stay there.
21:51Oh, the best.
21:52We stay in a lot of hotels.
21:52And so like, and because I'm always so tired, like I actually do kind of need the rest.
21:56Yeah, for sure.
21:57Like eating like 10,000 calories isn't good for you.
22:01But like I do like just a day where you're like, I'm just gonna do whatever my body wants
22:05right now.
22:05And if that's like not drinking any water all day, then that's fine.
22:08Well, that's not what your body wants.
22:10No, my body wants it.
22:11There's a part of my body that needs water.
22:13For sure.
22:15Because I do not drink a lot of it.
22:16I hope you settle down.
22:18I hope you'll marry rich.
22:21All right.
22:21So let's get back into line them up.
22:23All right.
22:24So for this one, I want you to rank your albums from your least favorite to your most favorite.
22:29And I want it.
22:30I want you to tell me why.
22:32This is like kind of an intense.
22:33Have you done this with other artists?
22:34Have they done this?
22:35No.
22:35I was gonna say, this is like pretty crazy ask.
22:38Okay.
22:38I just gave it to you.
22:40Thought we were having a good time.
22:41I mean, that's like, okay.
22:42All right.
22:43Here we go.
22:43I mean, I know, obviously.
22:46Oh, God.
22:48Jeez.
22:48Some people are like, oh, you didn't like that one?
22:51I like them all.
22:52Out of my four albums, like full length albums I've released, my favorite I think would be
22:58The Great Divide.
22:58I really love it.
22:59The Stick Season, second favorite.
23:01Busy Head.
23:02And then I Was, I Am would have to be my least favorite.
23:05Okay.
23:05Why?
23:06Because I wrote it at a time when I was just feeling very burnt out.
23:10And I felt like I was, I do love a lot of the songs on it.
23:13And I know people really connect with the music and that doesn't, shouldn't take away
23:16from their connection with it.
23:18But it was kind of an album that I feel like I've made because I thought I was supposed
23:22to.
23:22And I didn't know if I really had the story I wanted to tell fully formed at the time.
23:26But when I listen back, I think I don't give it as much credit as maybe it deserves.
23:30But it also just represented a time in my life where I was kind of like in between versions
23:34of myself maybe.
23:36And I don't like to think about like the confusion of like that process.
23:40Whereas like my last two records, and even my first record to an extent, like I really
23:44felt situated in like something.
23:45So I'd probably rank it like that.
23:48I relate to that clarity that you have on these other albums that you're talking about.
23:53Yeah.
23:53And feeling very confused about the in between.
23:56So I relate to that.
23:57Totally.
23:57It's like thinking about a year of college.
23:59It's like that doesn't mean all the classes were bad or like that you didn't have a good
24:01time sometimes.
24:02But it was like, you know, like certain times in your life are harder and like it almost
24:07represents more of like that time in my life than it does like the music itself.
24:11So.
24:12But I do love a lot of the songs from it.
24:14That means that I have to take the shot.
24:15And then we have one final question.
24:18Here we go.
24:21Oh.
24:23And the beer.
24:24Oh no.
24:27Need some salt.
24:28Ooh.
24:29Okay.
24:30All good.
24:31That does not look fun at all.
24:32I'm great.
24:33And the beer.
24:34Damn, dude.
24:35Well, I mean, you have to have a little chaser.
24:36I called you an Uber home.
24:38You know, one of these people back here behind these cameras, they taking me home.
24:42Yeah, I'm not doing no surge charging.
24:44Now, my last question for you.
24:47Obviously, the world is a big fan of Noah Khan, but you have a whole day in Massachusetts.
24:53How are you going to celebrate in 2027?
24:55I'm going to break all the fucking laws in the world.
24:57No.
24:58Okay.
24:58So just because they said it's your day, doesn't mean you get to just do whatever you want
25:02to do.
25:02I'm going to break laws that people don't even know.
25:04I'm going to aid in a bet.
25:05Ooh.
25:05I'm going to jaywalk.
25:08Well, we know these.
25:09I'm going to commit high-level securities fraud.
25:13I don't.
25:15Did they tell you, like, in the fine print, just to say, like, oh, you just don't go to
25:18jail?
25:18Like, what is this?
25:19The governor said I could do whatever I wanted.
25:21Right.
25:22I'm going to be fucking King Kong, dude.
25:24I'm going to climb up in the fucking building and pull my fucking shirt off, and I'm going
25:28to do all sorts.
25:28I'm going to do stuff that, like, I've always wanted to kind of do.
25:31Right.
25:31Yeah, like rob a bank.
25:32No.
25:33Please, we can't see this July 12th.
25:36Breaking news.
25:37Noah Khan robs a Brink's truck.
25:40Never would I ever rob a bank.
25:42Yeah, yeah, yeah.
25:42Give me alcohol and pizza and ask me what laws I'm going to break.
25:45It's like my fucking dream.
25:46Yeah.
25:48Well, no, I didn't ask that.
25:49I asked you what you were going to do.
25:51Oh, right.
25:51You talked about the Brink is lost.
25:52I heard about the loss.
25:53What are you supposed to do?
25:54It's like, uh, I don't know.
25:56I celebrate privately.
25:57Yeah, yeah.
25:58Right, right.
25:58The cameras are rolling.
26:00I don't really like to talk about what I do on that day.
26:01It's for me and my family.
26:03It's really personal.
26:04I keep it private.
26:04No, I probably will just, like, be happy because it's super cool.
26:08It's an honor, obviously, but they never really, when they make you the days, they never really say, like, what
26:11that entails.
26:13I think everyone should get school and work off.
26:15Yes.
26:15There should be some kind of, like, charity football game or something.
26:19Um, I don't know.
26:20It's going to be a great day.
26:21There's one in Vermont, too, so I've got two different days of the year.
26:24Hell yeah.
26:24Between that and my birthday, I got three days where I can pretty much have an awesome time.
26:29Flawless.
26:29Flawless.
26:30And my birthday's New Year's Day, so.
26:32Oh, so you are a real one.
26:33So that's two holidays in one.
26:35Yeah, you did say you were a Capricorn.
26:36Oh, yeah.
26:37But I'm glad that we got to come here to Highland Park Bowl.
26:39Glad that we got to play that very quick.
26:41Didn't I say it was going to be the longest game pool ever?
26:44And it became the shortest.
26:44That was the quickest game pool I've ever seen.
26:45Off the break, first shot, eight ball beyond the corner.
26:49I can't, you don't understand, I can't show my face around my parks.
26:54No.
26:54Are you kidding?
26:54No, no, no, seriously.
26:56I was being on bowling, so I feel like you, like, I walked in here and you were like,
26:58yo, I'm really fucking good at bowling.
27:00Like, damn.
27:01I was on a league.
27:01Were you really?
27:03Yeah.
27:03No shit.
27:04Can you put, like, spin on it and stuff?
27:06Well, absolutely not.
27:07I'm a girl.
27:07What a lady.
27:08Come on.
27:09But I can do a strike and a turkey, so.
27:11What's a turkey?
27:12Three strikes in the ground.
27:13All right.
27:14Well, we'll have to go bowling next time.
27:15Okay.
27:15That's a deal.
27:16Cool.
27:17Sounds good.
27:19Thank you so much.
27:20All right.
27:20Thank you guys.
27:21Now you got me sitting here drinking a beer and eating pizza, dude.
27:23I'll take it all the fucking time.
27:25No, we'll literally just be here all day.
27:27This is fun.
