00:01Today we're expecting the court sequel to this massive police operation that brought to a standstill one of Melbourne's busiest
00:12motorways around midday yesterday.
00:14That's when heavily armed police, some dressed in tactical gear, managed to sandwich this allegedly stolen four-wheel drive before
00:24dragging out one by one these alleged teenage offenders.
00:28And there were huge rows of traffic that were banked up along the busy Monash Freeway as this police operation
00:38was carried out.
00:39It was the culmination of an alleged police pursuit across several southeastern suburbs, including the busy East Link motorway that
00:48first began early in the morning.
00:51That's when it's alleged that there was this home invasion in Brighton East in Melbourne's southeastern suburbs where two cars
01:00were allegedly stolen.
01:01Then it's alleged that these offenders went on to commit another home invasion nearby.
01:08And one of these allegedly stolen vehicles was spotted in Doveton in Melbourne's southeastern suburbs a little later on.
01:16And that's what sparked this very long police pursuit.
01:20But overnight, Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives charged four boys aged 16 and 17, along with a 19-year-old
01:31man, with a number of offences.
01:33That includes intentionally exposing police to risk by driving, conduct endangering life,
01:40multiple counts of armed robberies and also aggravated burglary and motor theft.
01:48And also, the 16-year-old boy was charged with committing an indictable offence while on bail.
01:56Now, there is another alleged offender involved in this who was arrested yesterday, a 20-year-old man.
02:03However, no charges have been laid as yet against him because he remains under police guard in hospital.
