Oregon Ducks Coach Dan Lanning discusses keeping their emotions in check. Lanning talks about how they wanted to react when quarterback Dante Moore got hurt, but he emphasized playing with passion in between the whistles.

00:04Aaron, Coach, you mentioned you and Claire, you had your career.
00:08Do you have to maybe control any guys who are emotionally emotionally?
00:11Do you look like some who do you also have to make the point that don't retaliate
00:14when you're trying to take it out?
00:16Yeah, all those conversations happen.
00:17You see your brother get hurt, right?
00:19And you want to react, I want to react.
00:21And I thought you have to find the guys that are emotional.
00:24And then the big key for me is, hey,
00:26let's play with our passion in between the whistles.
00:29Because what happens in those moments is your body starts to tense up,
00:32you start to get a heightened sense of awareness,
00:34and you're wasting a lot of energy in between plays when you still got four
00:37quarters to finish, especially as early as it happened in the game.
00:41So, you know, there's some breathing exercises that go on.
00:43There's some resets that go on.
00:45There's just some confirmation of like, hey, here's where we're at.
00:48Here's what we need from you.
00:49And here's the best way you can honor Dante and the way you operate.
00:52So I thought, you know, we had a lot of guys that did a really good job of that.
00:55And there's going to be guys that are emotional in that moment.
00:57So they handled it well.
00:59Great.
01:00A lot of USC fans had a lot to say to Bear Alexander today.
01:04I wonder if you can talk a little bit about his culture and his maturity coming back to the
01:09ball sort of thing.
01:10Yeah, I mean, it's something we talked about going all throughout the entire week of Bear.
01:14Here's what you can expect.
01:15Here's what you can anticipate.
01:16Let's go ahead and decide what our reactions are going to be.
01:19Why you're a different person today than you were six years ago, five years ago,
01:23four years ago, and how he's grown up.
01:24And I think we saw a great example of that today.
01:26We saw a leader on the sideline.
01:28A guy that was demanding the best of his teammates.
01:30A guy that was focused in the game at all moments.
01:32I didn't get to watch him specifically play, but I know they struggled to run the ball inside.
01:37And I think that has a lot to do with our interior D-line.
01:40They were able to create some runs outside that we got to clean up, but I thought he did
01:44some great things.
01:45I thought he had good composure in moments where a lot of people under the same scrutiny hearing
01:50that, you know, those voices wouldn't react the same.
01:54Hey.
01:55Hey.
01:55Hey.
01:57Hey, hey.
