00:00George Russell's Formula One title hopes have suffered another major setback after the Mercedes
00:07driver was forced to take a grid penalty that will see him start the Singapore Grand Prix
00:12from the back of the pack. Russell retired from third place in the last Grand Prix that was held
00:21in Malaysia after suffering a power unit failure with only a handful of laps remaining. The failure
00:29left Mercedes with no choice but to fit another engine taking Russell beyond his allocated four
00:38power units for the season and triggering the penalty. Now the timing could not be worse for
00:45George Russell who is already 84 points behind teammate and championship leader Kimi Antonelli
00:53with just seven rounds remaining. Mercedes had originally planned to take the penalty at the
01:01United States Grand Prix in Austin where the team was due to introduce an engine upgrade but instead
01:09the failure at Sepang has forced the team to bring the change forward. Starting from the rear at Marina Bay
01:19presents a particularly difficult challenge with overtaking traditionally very limited around the
01:26tight street circuit. Russell does not have recent success to draw on but it would be a very impressive
01:34drive for George Russell to come anything close to the podium places but all eyes will be on the
01:40Singapore Grand Prix.
