00:00Taking me clothes off in front of everybody.
00:04I haven't done that since I was a little girl.
00:09More than 50 Aussie seniors have stripped off
00:12and taken the plunge at Melbourne's iconic Brighton Barbs,
00:15proving you're never too old for a little adventure.
00:18The group braved the water at sunrise on Thursday, October 8th
00:22for a mass skinny dip celebrating body confidence
00:25and challenging stereotypes about getting older.
00:28You only get one crack at retirement, so enjoy it.
00:31So when something like this comes along, stick your hand up and go for it.
00:35You're never too old. You're never too old.
00:39I don't think age should restrict you to do anything, actually.
00:42I think you should just be able to go with the flow
00:45and do whatever you want.
00:47Moving to Lavonde where I've moved to, they've given me a new life
00:51and I get out and do anything and everything.
00:54New research revealed 45% of Australians aged over 65
00:59believed society considered them too old for certain activities.
01:03More than half also felt underestimated because of their age.
01:07Former Olympic synchronised swimmer and photographer Francesca Owen
01:11captured the event, describing the participants as liberated and free.
01:15With my normal fine art photography, I'm normally trying to evoke
01:18that feeling of self-expression and letting go.
01:21So it was a great way for me to kind of carry those concepts into a new light
01:25and really like capture this special event this morning.
01:29And with three quarters of older Aussies saying they felt younger than their actual age,
01:34these swimmers certainly weren't letting a number hold them back.
01:37If you don't do it, you'll sit in the chair and waste away, so why not do it?
01:42I mean, I'm 91 and I feel like 21.
01:45I just leave your hours.
01:46I just be kidding.
