Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has drawn criticism after making another political statement during a recent concert, this time targeting Christian nationalism.

During a September performance, Williams told the audience, “The greatest threat to American democracy is Christian nationalism,” before performing her song “True Believer.” Her comments specifically referred to Christian nationalism rather than Christianity or Christians generally.

Williams has also used her concerts to speak about immigration and the Israel-Gaza conflict. At another show, she shouted, “F--- ICE” and “FREE MOTHERF------ PALESTINE!” while performing “Ice in My OJ.”

Her political comments are not new. In 2024, Williams criticized Donald Trump and said, “Do you want to live in a dictatorship? Well, show up and vote.” She also previously said, “Project 2025 is Donald Trump’s playbook for controlling and punishing women, poor people, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community.”

In 2023, she targeted Ron DeSantis supporters, saying, “If you vote for Ron DeSantis, you’re f------ dead to me.”
