00:18For Indian Coast Guard, every life at sea matters.
00:21So it's our constant endeavor to ensure that whenever we receive a distress alert,
00:26the search-and-rescue mechanism is immediately activated.
00:30Search-and-rescue units are deployed, whether it's a ship or an aircraft.
00:34And the idea is that the SRU should reach the distressed person in the shortest possible time
00:42to effect the rescue because somebody is waiting for him or her at home.
00:48The recent incident, which happened about 250 nautical miles of Paradeep,
00:52well, we did respond immediately, but as you are aware that the ship sank within eight minutes of sending the
01:01distress
01:01and we were able to rescue only two people from that vessel.
01:11So, see, we have to categorize search-and-rescue, you know,
01:15whether it's happening from a merchant ship or a fishing vessel or is it a drowning case.
01:20So, for us, every, you know, incident at sea constitutes a search-and-rescue case.
01:27So, statistics-wise, you can say that, you know, roughly about 60 to 70 cases have happened till date as
01:36we speak
01:37and the success rate is very high.
