The Moon Goddess saves three doomed beasts—a scrawny dog, a toad, and a vulture—gives them human form, and binds them to eternal loyalty. Years later, the Beast Kings betray her for a lowborn maid and refuse to marry her unless the maid becomes a goddess. Davy chooses the Dragon Emperor, breaks the pact, and turns them back into beasts.
