00:00When we say depression, we're supposed to be a person who is a weak,
00:05a qumit, or a mere hangin.
00:08But, what is that?
00:11Well, let's take a look at it.
00:13By people who are always laughing,
00:16and are always active at all these guys.
00:19But in the face,
00:20it's possible that they aren't seen in other people.
01:07Good morning and welcome to Rise and Shine Pilipinas, Prof. Justin
01:12Good morning, Sir Josh, and also to Sir Fifi
01:21Thank you, Sir Fifi. When it comes to smiling depression, again, just to be clear, hindi po ito clinically diagnosis
01:28or clinical term na ginagamit.
01:30Again, this is more on an informal term po na ginagamit these days para po i-describe yung isang individual
01:37na mukhang okay, masaya, gumingiti,
Still, they can also presented na meron po silang mga moments that they
01:54feel numb.
02:07Pero, deep inside, meron po silang sense of emptiness, hopelessness, and minsan po, in some cases, nagkakaroon na exhaustion.
02:14Okay.
02:15We're in the physically good, externally good, internally exhausted.
02:20Okay.
02:20Yan po ang smiling depression or smile depression.
02:23Okay, so, Prof, since functional pa rin yung individual, at sabi mo nga, normal pa rin, nakakagawa pa rin yung
02:29sa routine niya,
02:46Kasi po, and again, iba-iba po kasing presentation natin when it comes to depression.
02:50And again, para po makonfirm natin, we can simply observe someone by using check-ins at some point.
02:57And also, we can check po probably yung pagbabago po sa mood nila and behavior.
03:07Iba po, nawawalan nang they tend to be exhausted.
03:10Kahit po, still, again, just to be clear, na pag-functioning pong individual, hindi pa sabihin na okay din sila.
03:15Minsan, they just want to do something dahil kailangan.
03:18Then, they just want to do it kasi one of the requirements sa trabaho.
03:23And other people po, nagkakaroon ng difference in sleep.
03:26Kaya po, kailangan na-remember natin yung salitang P-S-I-T.
03:30For some people, they tend to be persistent, meaning para nagiging consistent po ang kanilang behavior.
03:35S, check the severity.
03:37Gano po ba kalala yung pinipresent nilang symptoms?
03:40Meaning, for example, kahit they tend to smile,
03:59So again, through the P-S-I, and then some of them I've mentioned a while ago po,
04:04can be a good reference to smiling depression.
04:06And again, yung smiling depression po ay also been called to be functional depression.
04:11The individual is functioning fully, pero deep inside, they have presented depressive symptoms.
04:18Gano po siya.
04:18Sir Josh.
04:20Okay.
04:21Prof.
04:29So, syempre, alam natin, mahirap makita yan.
04:42I mean, ibig sabihin ito, is it normal?
04:45Is it natural?
04:46Is it something that should be talked about with friends, with a psychologist?
04:53Ano ang dahilan?
04:54Ba't nangyayari ito?
04:57Usually, Sir Fifi, there's no consistent possible reasons kung bakit po nangyayari.
05:01Pero, one of the factors that we can look again, ito po kasi yung multifactorial step.
05:06Probably, kaya siya nangyayari.
05:07Una-una, probably, baka nangyayari sa family.
05:10Probably, baka may issues sa family.
05:12Probably, sa parents, halimbawa, sa asawa, sa partner.
05:16Pangalawa po, probably, sa work.
05:18Baka, hindi din nag-enjoy sa trabaho.
05:19Diba, may mga terms po, kasi may term ngayon, Sir, from functional depression, some people, they tend to do silent
05:26quitting.
05:27May mga ganyan po.
05:28Meaning, silently, nagde-depress sila sa trabaho, and then, internally, they also want to do quit sa trabaho.
05:35Yan po, and then again, tandaan po natin, may mga, it can be consistent for some people na, okay, nalulungkot,
05:42bigla na lang na, ah, hindi pongapasok.
05:44Pero, some people, pongapasok pa rin po, because they need to.
05:47Kaya po, itong functional depression or smiling depression, the possible cause po neto, kasi they tend to keep lahat ng
05:57problema, naipon ng naipon ng naipon, they tend to resurface patong ng patong ng patong.
06:03Resulting to, naipon siya, and then, you tend to interpret it as emotional burden po sa atin.
06:09So, yung bigat, Sir Fifi, probably, that can be the good reason kung bakit po nagkakaroon ng smiling depression because
06:15they just want to function,
06:16pero, ang bigat-bigat po, ang nararamdaman nila.
06:19Kaya, maganda yung pakiramdam na yung, ano eh, maganda kang klaseng workmates, no?
06:31Yung circle mo, yes.
06:32Oo, talaga, nagtutulungan din kayo.
06:34Yung support circle mo, yes.
06:35Yeah, kaya I love Joshua so much.
06:47paano pagka, kasi anong nangyayari, pagka nag-open up na sila,
06:56So, how do we approach?
06:58Paano yung trotto natin?
06:59Para na-invalidate.
07:00Oo, para hindi ma-invalidate.
07:01Oo.
07:02Yung ganun, halimbawa, once they open up, baka kasi hindi natin alam, hindi natin seryosohin,
07:06dahil nga lagi sila masaya.
07:07Naiiyatuloy maging vulnerable.
07:09Oo. Paano yung treatment dapat doon, Doc?
07:11Ah, Prof.
07:12Actually, sir, Josh, when it comes to that kind of case,
07:16pag ang isang individual po, ay tends to share us something,
07:19una-una po, don't diagnose it again.
07:22Huwag po sabihin, ah, baka depressed ka.
07:24Ah, baka may ganito ka.
07:26Baka meron kang anything na depression or anything na probably anxiety.
07:30So, una-una po kasi, una-una, don't diagnose them.
07:33Pangalawa po, let's do the sense of having empathy.
07:37Pakinggan muna po natin, kasi the usual problem po sa atin,
07:40some people, nagkakwento po ang isang individual,
07:43tapos ang response ibang tao,
07:44uy, ako din, uy, may ganyan din ako.
07:47Ako nga, we're in.
07:48Na-invalidate po yung isang individual brought by this.
07:51Ganyan.
07:52Ako to moment.
07:53O na eh.
07:55Bisexual.
07:56Mali.
07:56Mali, mali, mali.
07:57And with that, ah, ang ganda nung napag-usapan natin,
08:04Professor Justin Ray Chavez.
08:06Thank you, Prof.
08:07Thank you, Sir Justin, Sir Petey.
08:09Magandang magagal po ulit.
