00:00All right. I want to talk about this Cowboys team because, John, you and I feel like I keep saying
00:05this after they lose.
00:07We were high on this team to be a high octane offense.
00:10We are high on this team to get to the playoffs, maybe even win that division.
00:14And that is still very much open with how very possible.
00:17Why? How the Eagles are operating right now.
00:20Seems like they're kind of tanking, but they are two and three now.
00:24They came off that wild last second or not last second, but last quarter late in the quarter win against
00:30the Texans in Houston.
00:32And you're thinking like, man, CeeDee Lamb. Awesome.
00:35And then he left with that quad issue. But even before that, he was a non-factor.
00:40You go to a lot of their guys like they just they didn't have it tonight.
00:45And maybe you can blame it on the short week. Oh, my God. Short week.
00:47But both teams were not amazing. But Bucky Irving was amazing.
00:52And he carved that Cowboys defense. And this is more an indictment on the Cowboys defense in any other game
00:57that they've played so far,
00:58because you can't let an own four team with that quarterback go into your house in prime time where it's
01:04everyone's thinking this is a must win game
01:06and take it as unserious as you possibly can. And this I don't know where the Cowboys stand for me.
01:14I don't know where they stand for you. I don't know if this changes your thoughts of them, because like
01:18I said before the season,
01:19we were both kind of high on them. I don't know where you stand on this Cowboys team right now
01:23after this loss.
01:25If you want to blame this short week, go ahead.
01:29That's just an indictment on the head coach to me.
01:32If you want to blame their their their sluggishness, their they look lackadaisical to start the game.
01:38They look lackadaisical throughout the game.
01:40If you want to put that on the Cowboys for their performance against, excuse me, against the Bucs tonight, you

01:49I'm not going to do that. The Bucs were better.
01:52But if you're up 10 to seven in the first half, you're doing something correct.
01:57It's not. So you got something together.
01:59You got your faculties about you for the first half of the game.
02:03You know, it being a short week, didn't stop balls from popping off of helmets.
02:07It being a short week, didn't stop the ball going through the hands of the tight end for another turnover
02:11to ice the game.
02:14You know, it being a short week, it got nothing to do with you stopping Bucky, Barry Irvin.
02:19OK, yeah, nothing.
02:22So I don't I don't allow these short weeks to be a mask for poor performances because everybody has to
02:31play them.
02:32And at this point in the NFL, it feels like every team plays at least one of these a year.
02:37And we get one of these excuses every year.
02:40Well, it's a Thursday night, but it's a Thursday night on week five.
02:43Yeah, this is not a Thursday night on week 14.
02:46Yeah. And so I just there's no excuses for the way that they play tonight.
02:50We keep hearing about this is the year for the defense.
02:53This is the year for the defense.
02:55We make these movies. We bring in Quentin Williams.
02:57We make these movies. We draft Caleb Downs.
02:59I haven't heard him do anything.
03:01I haven't heard anything.
03:02And they're secondary. I mean, Christian Parker and Daron Bland, they were targeted repeatedly.
03:08That's the ball, Daron Bland.
03:09Come on, man. Oh, I know that was a pick six.
03:12That was a likely pick six on third down.
03:14That wasn't no likely pick six.
03:16That was the game tying score.
03:19I don't I mean, I guess they would still have to go to go for two.

03:24Now you can go for one because you got plenty of time.
03:27You just ran off 13 straight points, a six, and then you get stopped for two and then a pick
03:33six and a seven.
03:34So you down 14 and you just you just ran off a 13.
03:38And I think we've been like four or five minutes left in the game.

03:41Daron Bland's got to catch that ball, man.
03:43I get at every step when you thought, OK, here's their opportunity.

03:50They just gave it back to them.

03:56That's just a badly coached football team.
03:57And the Yankees do this.
03:59And it's funny, though, we're mentioning both these teams.
04:02The Yankees and the Cowboys do this.
04:03They don't invest in their coaching and their development staff and their analytics staff and all like the Dodgers do
04:09or like the Rams do or like the Eagles do.
04:10Like they don't put that effort into that coaching.
04:14And I don't think I don't know how long Schottenheimer lasts.
04:17I really don't, because a lot of fans were high on him after last season.
04:21Like, oh, my God, this offense.
04:22Yeah, they were.
04:23They're like, oh, let's give him a shot with this team.
04:25And now you're seeing, like, you need a high-end guy in there.
04:28And they just haven't gotten one for years.
04:32I didn't make the face at that with Schottenheimer's ability to coach offense.
04:37I didn't make the face because of that.
04:39I made that face because Jerry Jones will hire the person who he can control.
04:44There you go.
04:45OK, the daughter of the late Jim Irsay, she's on the sidelines visible with a headset on.
04:52So that looks disruptive.
04:53What Jerry Jones does is far worse than what she does.
04:56So I should probably leave her alone at this point because Jerry Jones hires guys who he can control.
05:02This is why Deion never got that job.
05:04When people were saying, oh, the Cowboys are going to hire Deion, I laughed my head off.
05:09I almost said something else because there's no way Jerry would give the control of his organization to somebody bigger
05:16than him.

05:17He showed y'all that with Jimmy Johnson.
05:20When Jimmy Johnson basically told him, hey, buddy, go back up in the office and cut the checks.

05:27Same thing with Bill Parcells.
05:29When a smarter man, a smarter football man is in the building, Jerry Jones does the same thing that a
05:35lot of rich, insecure people do.
05:39They get rid of them and then they bring in somebody who's not smarter than them.
