00:00The legend is back and it's even more powerful, stylish and fierce.
00:05This is the new Hornet 1000 from Honda in two versions, the ABS version and the SP version.
00:12And in this video, you'll find out everything about it.
00:15The differences, technical features, my impressions riding it, in the city,
00:20on the highway and also on the track, available colors and also the price.
00:25I'm Amanda Pagliari. This is the most charming motorcycle channel in Brazil
00:28and I'm here in Serra Negra at Honda's invitation to test this launch.
00:32So go ahead and hit the like button, subscribe to the channel because this video is awesome.
00:42Did you know that Brazil was the country that sold the most Hornets in the world?
00:47This name carries a lot of weight here in our country
00:50and we already have two bikes with this name in Honda's lineup, right?
00:54The entry-level CB500 Hornet, right?
00:57Yeah, we also have the Hornet 750 and now, right?
01:01The four-cylinder one because the two I mentioned to you are only twin cylinder,
01:06but the one that really carries the legacy and continues the Hornet line.
01:12The one we Brazilians really love is this version here, the CB1000 Hornet.
01:18Its design is that of a true street fighter.
01:20I know that when Honda launched the CB1000 Neo Sports Cafe,
01:23a lot of people were saying that it would be the Hornet, that it was bad.
01:26But actually, this is a different segment, a different category from Honda, okay?
01:30And I'll take the opportunity to say that it doesn't use the same engine,
01:35but rather a new generation engine, yes, derived from the Fireblade.
01:38I'll get into that in a bit, but this really is a street fighter.
01:41With a Japanese look, with a spearhead-inspired design, and it has that Hornet vibe.
01:47For those who don't know, Hornet means wasp in English, so we have this tail section here
01:52that really resembles a wasp stinger.
01:55The passenger seat here is minimalistic, just for a quick ride, just to meet the requirements,
01:59but it's really a bike meant for solo riding.
02:03The tank is really muscular, but at the same time, it's a compact bike,
02:07so you have these fins here, right? The design brings more sportiness.
02:12The headlight assembly here is really compact, so down here you have the headlight, right?
02:18And what's cool is that it's an LED headlight with a unique identity,
02:22it really has a very interesting signature.
02:25It's the new Hornet, you have here the LED projectors, here's the headlight, right?
02:30And when you turn on the high beam, both front lights come on.
02:33The turn signals stay on at all times.
02:36And it has the same tail light as the Fireblade, and it's full LED, which is cool.
02:40These turn signals here are transparent and have that ESS emergency system, so when you brake hard.
02:47At a certain speed, the electronics detect it and activate the rear turn signals to
02:51warn the vehicle behind you to pay attention, right?
02:54That something happens, something like that, bringing more safety to your daily life.
03:04The chassis of this bike is new, including the exposed subframe here,
03:07with this trellis design, which is really interesting.
03:10It's a diamond type, so it uses the engine, the big beautiful engine here, as part of the structure.
03:16It's interesting that Honda added some mounts to prevent the engine's vibration from passing to the frame,
03:21which is a good thing.
03:23A detail that makes this bike really interesting is the weight distribution.
03:26So we have the mass concentrated right here in the central part, which in practice,
03:30when you're riding, promises agility.
03:32I'll talk more about that in a moment.
03:34And the tank, which is also 17 liters, is positioned closer to the center,
03:38so you have a very good weight distribution.
03:40For those looking for agility and easy changes in the bike's direction, this makes perfect sense.
03:46And contributing even more to agility, it has a caster angle similar to the Fireblade.
03:52But don't be fooled. Look, when you try to steer, since it's a naked street fighter,
03:56you don't have much steering lock in either direction.
04:00But in general, guys, it's a really good bike to ride, right?
04:04I can put both feet on the ground.
04:07It has an interesting height.
04:08It fits my legs here really nice.
04:12It's a bike where you lean a little bit forward,
04:14but you aren't hunched so far over that it gets tiring.
04:18So I like that you can, if you want, go out on the track, right?
04:23But if you want to ride it day to day around the city or on the road,
04:26you don't get so tired or have to lean your body forward so much.
04:30So I think that's a really good feature of this bike, that it's a versatile bike.
04:37The suspension is from Showa. It's inverted with the SFF BP system,
04:42which puts the damping components in one fork leg and the spring in the other.
04:47And it has manual adjustment, which you do directly on the bike.
04:50You need tools to do it.
04:51And it has a 41 millimeter diameter and 130 millimeters of travel.
04:57The travel on both bikes is the same, both the ABS version and the SP.
05:01In the case of the SP here, the internal part is a little different.
05:04Calibrate it for what reason?
05:06Because at the rear, that's where we actually have a difference.
05:10Both use the Pro-Link, but here on the top of the line model,
05:14you have a beefy all-in suspension that you can fully adjust, right?
05:18Compression, rebound, several things you can adjust here with a tool.
05:22It's not electronic.
05:24And because this suspension is a little different, more focused on the track,
05:28then yes, to match the front suspension had to be recalibrated.
05:31And here on the ABS version, you have 138 millimeters of travel
05:35with seven levels of preload adjustment and two turns for damping.
05:39The wheels, both are 17 inch rims made of alloy tubeless tires with a more sporty profile.
05:46And the wheel design is inspired by the triple R by the Fireblade.
05:50And the detail is that the SP version has gold wheels.
05:54Both models come with dual floating discs, but here there's a difference,
05:59which really matters for those who want to ride on the track, especially in my opinion.
06:04In the ABS version, the calipers are from Nissin, okay?
06:08But here in the top of the line SP version, you get Brembo Stelema calipers.
06:12The calipers are radial, but in the top of the line version,
06:16you get a set that's lighter, safer, for sure.
06:20And that really makes a difference for those who like to go fast.
06:24Actually, in the test that Honda did with Systema UA, this one breaks sooner.
06:28Just a little bit, a few, right, a few seconds.
06:30It actually ends up breaking before the ABS version.
06:33So if you're unsure about which one to get, if you're going to use it more aggressively,
06:36then yes, maybe it's worth it for you to go with the SP.
06:44The dashboard is fully digital with connectivity.
06:47And when you turn it on, the name Hornet appears.
06:49And this dashboard is the same as the one on the CB1000 Neo Sports Cafe.
06:54In fact, they managed to get connectivity approved by using the one from the CB1000 Neo Sports Cafe,
06:59which was already approved.
07:01The dashboard is very complete.
07:03Well, here, in terms of visuals, you have three display modes.
07:05And you can change the background to white, black, or leave it automatic.
07:08Then you have a lot of information.
07:10Yeah.
07:11Up here, look, you have the riding modes.
07:13There are three.
07:13Okay.
07:14They're already preset.
07:15Sports.
07:16Then you have rain mode.
07:18Then you have user one.
07:20User two and standard.
07:22Okay.
07:22Which would be the mode for you to ride more calmly.
07:26The cool thing about user one and two modes is that you can configure everything.
07:31Right.
07:32Power delivery in three levels.
07:33Engine braking in three levels.
07:34Traction control also in three levels.
07:36And you can even turn it off, which is really nice.
07:39And when you have connectivity enabled on your phone and also with the audio system
07:45turned on, right, the turn by turn map will show up here.
07:49Okay.
07:50You can also listen to messages, not read them.
07:53Okay.
07:53You can check the weather forecast and also listen to messages directly in your helmet.
07:57Okay.
07:57And anyway, guys, the dashboard is really complete and it has the HIST system here.
08:02Look, which is an electronic chip right here in the key.
08:05So even if someone makes an identical copy, they won't be able to start the bike because it has
08:09an electronic system, which is a transponder that will prevent the bike from being started.
08:18And it has an electronic throttle giving faster response.
08:21Yeah.
08:22From the engine.
08:22And the heart here of the Hornet is not the same as the CB1000 Neosports Cafe's engine.
08:29Okay.
08:29It's another engine from a new generation.
08:31And yes, it's derived from the Fireblade.
08:33It's a four cylinder engine with liquid cooling, a very powerful engine.
08:37Now it has 147 horsepower at 11,000 RPM and 10.3 kilogram force meters of torque at 9,000
08:46RPM.
08:47With six gears, you have a slipper and assisted clutch.
08:51With the assisted technology, it makes it smoother for you to squeeze the clutch lever.
08:58And the slipper technology prevents the rear wheel from locking up when you make a sudden downshift.
09:03And speaking of gears, you don't have a quick shifter here in the ABS version.
09:07And you can't even buy it at the dealership.
09:10But the SP version does come standard with a bi-directional quick shifter.
09:14Okay.
09:15And the cool thing is that you can adjust how much pressure it takes to shift,
09:19make it smoother, softer.
09:20You can configure it on the dashboard and it uses Honda technology that makes gear changes easier.
09:25Yeah, so it's much easier to shift gears without having to do that heel and toe thing, you know,
09:32revving to upshift here, according to Honda.
09:35It brings a technology that lets you shift more easily.
09:38And now that I've already introduced you to the new Honda, let's take them for a spin.
09:53And our ride starts here in the city.
09:57This is a motorcycle, well, versatile enough for someone who rides in the city.
10:03That's the road who rides on the track.
10:06And today we're going to do all of those things.
10:09We're leaving here from the, from the Saranaga region, right?
10:17And we're going to hit the road and finish at the racetrack.
10:22The ease of riding this bike, it's impressive here.
10:26How flexible the engine is in each gear.
10:30The smoothness.
10:32I'm here, look, talking to you in second gear.
10:35I haven't shifted gears yet.
10:37Wow, what a smooth, agile bike.
10:41So for someone who's going to ride in the city, it's not a bike that surprises you or jerks you
10:45around.
10:47If you already have some experience with, for example, the Honda 500, you can already ride more comfortably.
10:56If you're a little afraid to accelerate, start in road mode or range mode, if that's the case.
11:02You'll get the hang of it.
11:05But what I want to tell you is that if you don't act hastily, like accelerating all the way or
11:10twisting the throttle wide open,
11:12if you're smooth with the throttle, the bike will respond smoothly.
11:15It will be your friend.
11:18And then when you want race-ready performance, it will give it to you, right?
11:21Look at this.
11:24It goes really well.
11:30That's what I like about this bike, because it's a pleasure to ride.
11:34You don't have to fight with it.
11:37That's really important to mention, because some people like powerful engines.
11:43But a lot of the engines we have on the market are kind of stubborn, you know?
11:47And then there are times when you can handle it.
11:49You like to keep fighting, taming the beast, but sometimes it just gets annoying.
11:53And this bike, no.
11:54It's very smooth.
11:55The engine sound just builds up.
11:56And that's with the original exhaust, right?
11:59And wow, the bike delivers power to you progressively.
12:05And then you have a fun and enjoyable bike to ride.
12:10I think that's one of the big strengths of the Hornet, right?
12:15It says being compact and lightweight, right?
12:17It feels like you're on a 500.
12:21Wow, it's a stable bike.
12:23You're going 140 kilometers an hour.
12:27And it feels like you're going 100 kilometers an hour.
12:35I think it's the ease.
12:37I think the Hornet wins.
12:40Hornet wins, right?
12:42What a financial advantage.
12:44Yeah, it's a rocket that you can maneuver, that you can ride.
12:52And maybe it's not the most explosive engine in the world among the naked bikes, but
12:59I think that you have to see what the person wants.
13:03Me, for example, I like a progressive bike.
13:04The four-cylinders revving up the sound.
13:06A light, agile bike, and an engine that helps me, excites me, and grows as I go with the four
13:09-cylinders.
13:10Revving up the sound, a light, agile bike, and an engine that helps me, excites me, and grows as I
13:19ask for more.
13:22And no fighting with me, so I think that's the big advantage of the Hornet, that it's very easy to
13:27ride.
13:28I don't recommend someone going straight from, I don't know, a CG or a CB300, for example, directly to the
13:35Hornet.
13:35But I wouldn't be surprised if the person was sensible with the throttle here, and managed to drive, to ride,
13:43you know?
13:45Because it really is that easy to ride.
13:49So, I think that's one of the advantages of the Hornet, compared to the competition and the price.
13:57I thought it was very interesting.
13:58I'll tell you the price in a moment.
14:00Yeah, we know that each dealership sets its own price.
14:04Yeah, that's the way it is, right?
14:07Unfortunately, yeah, there is a lot of discrepancy.
14:11But it seems like it's not straying too far from the MSRP, the manufacturer's suggested retail price.
14:17In a moment, I'll tell you, the price of both versions, okay?
14:21The price suggested by Honda.
14:23But then you tell me your city, what the price of the new Hornet is there, and you write it
14:27down here below, okay?
14:28So we can map out all of Brazil.
14:32And go ahead and send this video to your friend who owns a Hornet, okay?
14:36Send it to him right away.
14:57I'm going to ride now on the SP on the track.
15:01We're going to ride all of them.
15:06and i didn't even bring my racing suit guys i forgot to bring my racing suit i could have
15:12brought a support car but it's okay i'll take it easy on the bike
15:21so it won't be much of a problem here right
15:36wow what a nice bike to take corners with huh
15:40wow it's engine is really linear really linear really linear
15:49there are some parts that that are wet on the track right so we have to go
15:53look here for example look it's kind of weird
15:57so we can't lean the bike too much because we might slip
16:12oh here for example look it's no use look you see it rained a lot
16:19so the track is really wet
16:23this is the first one i'm liking it i think it's really steady on the track
16:26it breaks well too it's got serious stopping power
16:50it should be a service in this country right
17:01let it go
17:28what if we get excited
17:35remember that they have original tires the bikes are original guys
17:40all original
17:42whoever is really going to use it more on the track is going to change a lot of things right
17:49the tire isn't bad but it's a tire that's supposed to last longer on the road right
17:54but even so it's really good
17:59wow hornet lives
18:02hornet lives brazil
18:15and i'm here with luis gustavo from honda public relations
18:18to tell us a little bit about what the name hornet means here in our country
18:22now we finally have the four-cylinder hornet right
18:25for real
18:25and also what are honda's expectations regarding sales what's the future right
18:30not just for this one but for the whole family right
18:32yes let's go well amanda first of all thank you for being here at this hornet 1000 test ride event
18:39so yes for honda here in brazil the name hornet carries a lot of weight right
18:43and it means a great deal to honda as a global brand
18:46brazil stands out when it comes to the hornet name ever since the launch of the first generation right
18:51we had it here in brazil
18:53from 2005 until 2014
18:55and it was one of the countries that had the most hornet model sales
18:59so globally that's where brazil stood out
19:02in the sales of this model
19:03and now we are right
19:05launched at festival interlagos
19:07the cb 1000 hornet
19:09and now we complete the hornet family
19:11these are bikes inspired by the street fighter concept
19:14each with its own characteristics
19:16target audience
19:17and way of being used
19:20and with hornet 1000 as amanda mentioned
19:22well the return of the four-cylinder engine which is the evolution of the hornet 600 that we had in
19:27brazil
19:27right until 2014
19:29and it highlights all these characteristics of performance of riding pleasure excitement
19:37especially with more safety and more balance
19:40so it's a bike that's really nice to ride in the city
19:42very easy for you to control
19:44and you can also get plenty out of it on the track when riding more sportly
19:49and for honda in brazil
19:50our focus with this hornet family
19:52is to attract customers
19:55keep captivate right the customers
19:58and especially to win back the customers
20:00who are passionate about the hornet legacy
20:03right
20:04and now we are able to deliver
20:07in three model options from the hornet family
20:11this passion for the customer
20:13for the brazilian public
20:15and then talking about the others
20:17both the 500 and the 750
20:19who are these bikes best suited to
20:21are they more for someone who's just starting out right
20:23because the 500 is a good entry point right
20:25the person who just left the cb300
20:27already has some experience
20:28wants to enter the world of big bikes
20:31it's not recommended
20:32we wouldn't recommend the hornet 1000
20:33for god's sake
20:34don't do that right
20:35so who are the 500 and the 650 for
20:38good let's go
20:39so regarding the audience
20:40and especially the way it's used
20:41right like you mentioned to me
20:42the cb500 hornet is the entry level hornet
20:46in the high displacement segment
20:47so it has a
20:49it's meant to be excellent value
20:51for money
20:52for that
20:53that rider who uses the bike
20:55daily in the city
20:57to get around for work
20:59home
20:59and so on
21:00and also for weekend rides
21:02it allows you to have
21:04that performance
21:05that capability
21:06and to travel on highways
21:08and so on
21:08the hornet 750
21:10it maintains that appeal
21:12but with a bit more performance
21:14especially from low to mid reps
21:17and both of them have
21:19various electronic settings
21:20starting from the hornet 500
21:21traction control brakes
21:22abs
21:22inverted suspension
21:24and on the 750
21:25on the 750
21:26you already start to get
21:27the riding modes
21:28right
21:29engine configuration
21:30riding modes
21:31and so on
21:32the 750 gives you more power
21:34striking a balance
21:35between the 1000
21:36and the 500
21:37and the 1000
21:38really embodies
21:39all that sportiness
21:40of the hornet legacy
21:41that's it Lizzo
21:42thank you so much
21:43thanks Amanda
21:44thank you
21:44thanks
21:49in summary guys
21:50the hornet is still
21:52easy to handle
21:53very powerful
21:54with an exciting roar
21:56and I think that
21:57everyone out there
21:58when they start riding
21:59I think this bike
22:00is really going to
22:01catch on

22:18seriously folks
22:19by the time you even
22:20think about it
22:21it's already there
22:22so if you're not ready
22:23to take the turn
22:23you could get yourself
22:25in trouble
22:25but well
22:26I think it's a really
22:27good product
22:28Brazilians like it
22:29I think it's going to
22:29sell a lot
22:31especially if the dealerships
22:32keep the price
22:33and speaking of price
22:34let's go
22:35the price surprised me
22:36I expected it to be higher
22:38but it came in
22:40at an attractive price
