00:11:42What I've found is these sightings have happened almost everywhere in America.

00:11:48One week there's a sighting, the next week there's a sighting.
00:11:51There's gotta be a connection, but I can't quite find it.
00:11:53So, what I decided to do is find a focal point.
00:11:56The focal point that I've found is right here in North Carolina, there's been reports of sightings, but there's no
00:12:03evidence of the actual sightings.

00:12:37So, we've been investigating these clown sightings, and although they started in South Carolina, they've become somewhat of an epidemic.
00:12:43I mean, it's been as far west as Washington, down to Texas, up in New York.
00:12:47And we actually read about a couple sightings in Europe and Australia.
00:12:51So, it seems to be happening all over the place, and people don't know why or how it's connected.
00:12:56And they're going further than scaring people. They're actually hurting some people and committing crimes.
00:13:01So, it's a much more serious situation than we thought at first.
00:13:05We're going to try to get at the bottom of it, and hopefully, we'll discover more soon.

00:13:57And when I became an historian, well, clowns became a natural focus of my research.
00:14:03But what really grabbed me was when I started seeing things in the historical record
00:14:08referring to a dark side of clowns, and it seemed like nobody wanted to talk about that.

00:18:21Now, what I've done here is I've started to plot out the different sightings.

00:18:29For example, this sighting here, someone was being chased through the woods.
00:18:33Now this clown had a knife.
00:18:36Now the interesting thing about these sightings is there's been reports, but there's no documentation.
