00:00Why is Smallville's Superman considered one of the strongest versions of all time?
00:03When eight-year-old Darkseid first appeared, even Henry Cavill's Superman and the Justice League
00:07were frozen in fear. But Smallville Clark Kent had just learned how to fly,
00:11and he had already destroyed Darkseid's dark form almost instantly. Then he went even further,
00:15flying into space and pushing the entire planet apocalypse deep into the cosmos.
00:18What makes this version different is that most Supermans start near their peak.
00:21Tom Welling's Clark Kent was different. We watched him grow from a normal farm kid
00:25into a full-on Superman. By the end of the story, his power had reached a cosmic level.
00:28His heat vision could vaporize rivers and turn them into steam. He could survive a nuclear blast
00:32at close range with almost no damage, and his speed was approaching the speed of light.
00:36But the craziest part is his resistance to weaknesses. Most versions of Superman are
00:39completely neutralized by kryptonite. Batman used kryptonite weapons to defeat Henry Cavill's
00:43Superman. Newer versions can lose almost all their strength the moment kryptonite appears.
00:47Smallville Clark Kent is different. His hometown was basically built on top of kryptonite,
00:51so he spent years being exposed to it. By the time of Crisis on Infinite Earths,
00:54he had developed significant resistance to multiple types of kryptonite, and even without powers,
00:58this Clark Kent still had an extremely powerful physique. That's why many fans believe Smallville
01:02Superman isn't just strong. He might be the most complete version of Superman ever shown on screen.
